I would like to summarize the last weeks. First, thank you to Noteboom and Jonas for the votes in the elections. Recently, I have been working on selection and new tactics. We lost 0:1 against Algeria in the African Cup Final. Our opponent only scored a goal at the end of the game, when we played ten with a red card for our midfielder. We improved the game. We won against Kenya 1:0 at the start of this season in the first World Cup qualification match. The only goal was scored by the reliable Árni Þór Orlygsson. We played a good match, our opponent did not have clear goal situations. In the next match, we played against Azerbaijan, a participant in the last World Cup, who was classified in the 26th place in the World Ranking. We changed our tactic to defensive and we came close to making a huge sensation. In the end, we only lost 2:3 and of course Árni Þór Orlygsson scored two goals. In the table of Group H, after two rounds, we are in a high third place. On Friday, we will play a friendly match against Jamaica U20 vs U20. A few new players will get a chance to play for the national team. Two 18yo midfielders Þórmóður Yngvarsson and Grétar Magnússon have recently joined the squad.

Yesterday we played a friendly match against Jamaica. I made an agreement with the Jamaican coach that we would play with U20. I did it, but the Jamaican coach put the U21 squad to play. The difference in class and age of players meant that we lost as much as 0:9. After match, Jamaican coach wrote to me that he had forgotten to field U20 squad and didn't even apologize. I gave our best players a rest during the match. Our team featured debutants Daníel Þór Andrésson, Sigurður Helga Hjaltson, Þórmóður Yngvarsson, Grétar Magnússon and Björn Ingi Eyþórsson. We avoided injuries and cards. In a week's time we will play a group match of WCQ against the group's favorite - France.

Don´t worry, results in friendly is not the key thing

You're right, but I got upset that the Jamaican coach broke the deal. If we played U20 vs U20, match would be more interesting. I'll never arrange a match with him.

Yesterday we played against France U21- Group H favorite in the World Cup qualifiers. We played defensively. Until the 77th minute we were close to making a huge sensation, we were drawing 0-0. Unfortunately, at the end of the match we ran out of strength and luck, in the last 13 minutes we conceded 3 goals and lost 0:3. In my opinion, our goalkeeper and defenders played a very good match, the opponent didn't shoot too many shots on goal and didn't have a one-on-one situation. Next week we will play against Bolivia U21, which won 8-0 against Kenya U21! It will be another difficult match, but we will try to surprise our fans.

In yesterday's match against Bolivia U21 we played more aggressively than in previous matches against France and Azerbaijan. We had as many as 11 shots at the opponent's goal. None of the shots found the way to the goal. Our opponent was more effective and scored one goal, which turned out to be the winner for them. Despite the fact that we were playing against a much stronger team, we were even close to a draw. Hopefully we will score points in the next match against South Africa U21.

Vilberg Theódórsson - 18 yo MID - talented, unearthly junior from Noteboom YS
Freyr Friðþjófsson - 18 yo MID - junior that I bought for 2 million zlotys from pain1 and I will train him speed.

Yesterday in the friendly match Ísland U20 beat Belarus U21- 5:3.
The U21 World Cup qualifying matches against Azerbaijan and Kenya are ahead of us.

On Friday, our team made the biggest surprise since I'm a coach. In the World Cup qualifying match we won away 1:0 against Azerbaijan U21! Our opponent was ranked 45 places higher than us. Thanks to the victory, we moved up from the 76th to the 71st place in the ranking. This Friday we will play our last group match against Kenya U21. If we win, we have a chance to be promoted to 4th place in the group.

In Group H's last match, we won 1:0 against Kenya U21 after a goal from our top scorer, Orlygsson! In another match of our group, South Africa U21 lost 2:4 to Bolivia U21 and we moved up to 4th place in the table! We scored a total of 12 points. I think this is our success. Before the tournament, we were drawn from 5 pot. In the last four qualifying rounds, Ísland U21 was placed 5th to 6th. We've improved these results. Now it's time for the friendly matches and building our Ísland U21 squad for the next World Cup qualifying round. I believe in progress and i have the motivation.
