Yesterday we won 4:1 against Luxembourg U21. We played a new, offensive tactic 4-1-2-1-2. The tactics gave positive results, we had a definite advantage and a lot of goal situations. We had as many as 26 shots on goal! Unfortunately, our top scorer Hilmarsson missed an injury due to an injury, but two 18yo strikers J. Pálmason and E. Helgason scored and scored. Our opponent had only 2 shots, 1 on target, but scored a goal after a long shot. Our players played a very good match and they deservedly won. In just a week we will play against Slovenia U21.

All these teams are higher in the world ranking than us, but we will fight for the best result in every match. The tournament will be a good preparation for the U21 WCQ.

In a week's time we will play a friendly match against Wales U21, and in two weeks we will start the U21 World Cup qualifying. Today there was a group draw, we will play Group H against Croatia (pot 1), Chile (pot 2), USA (pot 3), Kenya (pot 5) and Morocco (pot 6). It is a strong group, we have 10 difficult matches ahead of us.

The Ísland national team is more important to me than my club, where I train young Icelanders, and that will not change. On Saturday, in the last match of the season, we won against Wales U21 2:0. We did not play in this match with our strongest squad. Our best goalkeeper and attackers were resting. From the first minutes, 18yo goalkeeper William Ragnarsson and 19yo strikers Jón Bjarni Pálmason and Eðvarð Helgason played. Jón Bjarni Pálmason scored the first goal. In the 90th minute of the game, the attacking midfielder Bjarki Þór Frímannsson scored his first goal for Ísland U21. Defender Torfi Styrmirsson and forward Ómar Herjólfsson made their national debut in this match. I'm glad that none of the players got injured.

We started the U21 World Cup Qualifiers with a match against the USA U21. The USA was the favorite of this match - they played in the last three World Cup finals, but we played a great match and drew 2:2. Already in the 11th minute Hilmarsson scored for our team, but the USA scored two goals before the end of the 1st half. At half-time, we changed our tactics from left wing to right wing. In the second half we attacked and we had situations to score. In the 80th minute, Daðason scored the coveted goal for us and we brought the score 2:2. I am very pleased, because despite the advantage of our opponent in average ratings (43.9 - 50.5), we created more shooting situations. This is a very good omen for the next matches. Tomorrow we will play another WCQ match, and our opponent will be Morocco U21. Our goal is 3 points.

We were not scared by the opponent and after conceding the first goal we played quite offensively. Unfortunately, our midfielder Kristmundur Elíasson suffered an injury in the 11th minute of the match. His injury is worrying because we don't have much choice in this position. However, we played a good match and in the 65th minute J.Hilmarsson scored an honorable goal for us. 6 minutes later it could have been 2:3, but R.Erlingsson scored a shot at the goal post. In a week's time we will play against Kenya U21. I believe we will win. I hope that, apart from Eliasson's injury, we will play with the strongest squad.
