Recently, we have implemented a page which contains the ranking points of every team in a country, sorted from highest to lowest. This list can be accessed through a country's national page and specific team rankings are also available on their club page. These rankings have been calculated since Sokker began but were only visible when viewing the XML files.
Ranking points are calculated in the same way as they are for national teams. They are based on the ELO ranking formula and the amount of ranking points obtained is influenced by the results of all your matches. For more information on how ELO works check here.
As of the beginning of next season, the national cup will be based on ranking points and will not be based on league position, as is currently the case. This will be used to determine whether a team qualifies for the cup and determining the fixtures for the cup. This increases the importance of friendly matches, especially for bottom league teams, as the loss of ranking points may decide whether a team qualifies or not. The national ranking page of a country shows the teams that will qualify for the cup the following season, by highlighting those not qualified with a grey background.

Each League page now features a link for the best 11 players of each round. This will highlight the best performing players of the round, including 4 defenders, 4 midfielders, 2 strikers and one goalkeeper. The current formula is rather simple, but we're planning to change it and base it on more factors to make the best 11 more unpredictable.
This type of function has been requested by many users, and therefore we have decided to make it available for all users. We hope you enjoy it :)

It is election time again!
You have the opportunity to stand for election as the national team coach of any nation and vote for your preferred manager of your own nation!
To access the election page, go to the respective country homepage, then click on the National Team, and then Elections.
If you stand for election, it is recommended that you open a maximum of one thread in the forums, prefixed with [NT] , e.g. [NT] loop. Please do NOT spam forums, SK-mail people directly for votes, or spam users Guest Books. Any of these activities will result in forum banning and/or financial fine.
Please remember that an user who has been elected as NT manager will not be able to resign from their job. Therefore when you stand for the NT job, it is not only for fun, it is also your responsibility to serve the full term which the people that voted you into the job thought you should serve.
The election starts on Monday 15th September and ends on Sunday 28th September, so get preparing your speeches, asking candidates tough questions & voting!

We are about to introduce a new feature, "Associations". You can found and join associations for any subject you are interested in. For example an association about basketball where you can let everybody join who shares this interest.
Associations will have either an open or closed forum which is moderated by the founder, or any member appointed by the founder. As founder you will be able to accept members, create logos, publish articles and give power to selected members. Only association members will have access to the private forums. Sokker-staff will not have access to private associations (unless accepted), so the founder of the association is responsible that the content of the forum follows the general Sokker rules.
There will also be associations for the national teams that can be used for displaying latest news, lists of scouts, trainers and assistants and whatever information the national team coach likes to publish.
The feature will be available for plus users only.
Please report bugs at Bugs/Ideas (en), in English and one topic per bug. Thank you and enjoy :)

We have changed the process for assigning new teams to leagues. For countries with at least 4 divisions or more, new users are accepted in the two bottom leagues (instead of only the bottom one). This was done to increase the number of users who remain as users in Sokker. For example, we have considered the following statistics:
- Poland retains 56% of new users (full leagues, hard to promote, 7 divisions to get top but all time matches with live teams)
- Austria retains 39% of new users (half filled leagues)
- Denmark retains only 14% of new users stayed (when you register you get team in bot league)
It is our intention that this change will increase the amount of interaction new users get when joining the game, and make the game initially more enjoyable.

For performance reasons the forum structure has been changed. The list of forums is now separated into two categories each holding a set of forums. The first category is the default one and works as usual, but the second one called other is new. In this second list you can find additional forums that might be of less interest for you. There is no new topic or new post information on these optional forums which saves resources for additional default forums.
We now have the possibility to add newly created forums to this list without much effect on the server's performance. If you want to subscribe to one of these, simply press the add button. The first new forum is called Friendlies "Sokker Country". You can use this forum to arrange friendlies and find friendly leagues. Every country has it's own Friendlies forum, which might come in handy when trying to find a foreign opponent from a specific country.
As usual, if you find any bugs or have further ideas to improve Sokker, please visit our Bugs/Ideas(en) forum.
Enjoy the new setup.

Today we are happy to announce that we have introduced some new features for your enjoyment. These new features are free to all users.
Manager Pacts
You are now able to sign friendly pacts with other managers. The choices are vip, supporter or arch rival. To do so, just visit a managers' profile and click on the friends link. An ideal way to keep in touch with your friends...and your rivals!
Logged Users
You can now see a list of logged in users from each region. To access this list, go to any country and select a region. You can sort users by team rank, which will be handy for finding a weaker opponent who might give you a victory in next weeks' friendly.
But keep in mind, "There are no easy games"!
As usual, any bugs that are found or if you have any ideas to improve sokker, please visit our Bugs/Ideas(en) forum

The Sokker development team is delighted to announce that the match engine has now been further improved. 16 new animations, including diving motions from the goalkeepers and goal celebrations, were added.
New flash files increase the viewer's size from 178 KB to 1.5 MB and two new sounds (~160 KB) were added, too. This will increase the download time a little when you use the new match viewer for the first time, because the new parts have to be cached by the browsers. For every further match the download should take place as fast as before as the data needed for each match remains unchanged.
The new match viewer is to be tested on the friendly NT matches on the 26th July. The changes are permanent and all subsequent matches will be generated by this new match engine. We do not expect important bugs as changes to the match engine itself are minimal. Please note that the gameplay was not changed, and that the behaviour of the players will stay the same (i.e. defenders will defend exactly like before, players will shoot or pass like before, keepers will save exactly like before).
In the unlikely event that you find any bugs, please report them as usual via the Bugs/Idea's forum.

We have introduced a new version of the Assistant Tool that will enable view of players based on not only percentage values, but also weightings that YOU as the manager set as important for each position. The tool provides an option to display as the percentage or with the new weighted sum.
This weighted sum is specifically to help you brag about your players in those best of forums (eg. Best-of-Forum) and to compare your star players with other talented players. It is also helpful while searching players on the transferlist - just click the assistant link on transfer-listed player's menu, adding that player to show his weighted value with the rest of your team.
Plus users can check it out via the Training -> Assistant menu.
