World Cup

  • Jack Daniels [del]
  • 2005-12-06

Next season World Cup qualifications will begin (with the season after being World Cup group phase and finals).

All teams will play in the qualification stage - there will be 7 groups for the 42 NT teams (there will always be 5-6 teams per group). Groups will be drawn with the help of ranking points (top 1-7 teams for first place in one of 7 groups, 8-14 for second,... and so on). The match schedule will be irregular in the qualification phase so teams may play friendlies in free weeks.

World Cup - group and final phase:
32 teams will qualify for the world cup, which will be decided by:
1. Place in qualification group
2. Points
3. Goal difference
4. Goals scored
5. Wins
6. Ranking points (at the time groups were drawn).

There will be 8 world cup groups. Groups will be drawn based on the finishing position in the qualifying stage.

Qualification will be drawn one day before the league fixtures (one week before the new season). World cup groups next season will be a week later.

In 1-2 weeks there will be a Qualification / World Cup subpage in the world menu.

Conditional changes - summation.

  • Jack Daniels [del]
  • 2005-12-02

New information about conditional changes, as there are new orders that you can which are:

- when you set 'first from the bench' it means that the player will be substituted only if the substitute has the same position order (different from original version)
- you are able to specify the player to call up from the bench
- possibility of swapping players' positions (read below)
- condition 'player has yellow card'
- condition 'red card or no player' (sensible only for swapping players' positions)
- condition 'player is slightly injured'

Special information about swapping players positions:
- you can't swap a goalkeeper with an outfielder
- players don't change their position while swapping, for example: ATT even swapped with DEF will still get ATT training and will play like ATT - rarely passing etc.
- you have to select the number and player from the first team to make the 'swap' (it will be executed even if position with that number is empty, but only if given player is on the field)

Please, if you don't want 'surprises' set your orders very carefully or even better check it first in friendly games.

Conditional changes II.

The feature that allows users to specify the exact player that comes off the bench is disabled at the moment. The substitute player comes from the bench from the given position (DEF, MID, ATT, GK) - just as explained in the first news.

In the next few weeks we plan to:
- enable the possibility of specifying the player to call up from the bench
- add the possibility of swapping players' positions (probably)
- add a condition 'if yellow card...'
- add a condition 'if red card...' (only if swapping players' positions is introduced)

Any improvements to the conditional changes should be finished before the start of the new season.

Conditional changes and set pieces

  • 2005-11-20

It is planned to allow managers to make conditional changes within match orders. This feature will allow users to indicate the time (minute), position (number) and substitution conditions (for example: if we are leading 2:0 then.. etc.).

If the set condition is met, the substitution will be activated at the next break in play (ball out of play, corner or foul). In the substitution, the first player from the reserved list of the correct order type (GK, DEF, MID or ATT) will enter the pitch.

The match orders screen will be updated in the next few days to accomodate this change.

Additionally, the match orders will also allow managers to set a player to take corners and freekicks.

Important! This will have the following impact to the game (and training):
- training will depend on the total time on the pitch for each player during the week
- official games give you a little bit more training than a friendly match
- a player will get almost full training if he plays one full game in week
- national matches are treated equally as other games (for now only as friendly)
- players do not get training in extra time (they are too tired)

The game engine has been significantly modified, therefore we ask everyone to report all the bugs that you come across.

Percentage for mother clubs

  • Max [del]
  • 2005-11-13

We have introduced a change to the current transfer system. From now on, you will receive 5% of the final sale price of players that originated from your junior squad, as long as they are aged 23 or under. This includes any junior that you have sold in the past.

The transfer tax of 4% that applies to all players, will remain unchanged. As a result, the club selling the junior (ie the club who bought the junior, not the club the junior came from) on will receive 91% of the money instead of the 96% they would have done in the past.

This will take effect from Monday, 21.11.05

  • Max [del]
  • 2005-11-10

We are searching for a new logo for sokker to implement it on the homepage. To ensure high quality of submitted logos, please ensure they meet the following criteria:

1. The logo should be in flash (.swf format) or another 2D vector graphics program format (EPS, Adobe Ilustrator, Corel Draw, etc.), fully vectorized (without bitmaps).

2. It must fit (visually) to the actual site design.

Please send your creative logos to admins@sokker.org and we will decide if your logo is the best :)

New server

  • Max [del]
  • 2005-11-07

Since yesterday morning we are running on a new, faster database server. It`s possible that you won`t see the difference now, as we are still limited by the old server. We should manage to replace it in the next few days.

Supporters

  • Jack Daniels [del]
  • 2005-10-27

We have initiated changes in the way in which supporters will be come to their fan clubs - now the amount of them will partially depend on the division or the prestige of the league. This will be counted on the basis of, for example, the fan clubs of other teams in your league. The new system will take effect from Monday – at this time there won’t be much difference – you can expect that there will be about 1-2 more/less supporters in extreme situations (highest-lowest league) than what would come normally. The influence of the league and division prestige will be increased from the beginning of the next season.

The purpose of this change is to increase the profitability of promoting to a higher division or staying in the same one. This is to try and stop people intentionally staying in lower divisions or throwing qualifiers to get relegated. It will also make the fan club system more realistic.

Server problems

  • 2005-10-02

We apologise for the downtime that occured on Saturday October 1st. This was due to an unexpected major failure in one of our servers. Therefore Sokker is currently running on the old server only.

We are working to resize our servers in the future, but this may take a few weeks. Until this time, Sokker will be running just on the old server. This may make it difficult to watch the Sunday games.

We apologise for these problems.

Rules regarding national teams

  • Max [del]
  • 2005-09-14

Here are current major regulations regarding national teams. They may change within this test season.

Appointing players

- Currently national coach can appoint as many players as he wants.
- He can also release any player at any time with no consequences (these two rules probably will change in the future).
- Skills of the players are not visible for the national coach, even after player is appoited to national team. Coach must rely on informations obtained from owner.
- National coach can appoint any player with proper nationality, he doesn`t need to ask for owner permission.
- Owner of national player who is played for national team will have following profits:
+ prestige - a little more fans will come on his club matches,
+ better medical care of injured national player.

Matches

- Matches are to be played on the same conditions as club matches.
- In the first season matches will be played at saturdays around 12 a.m. (Sokker time)
- This season only friendly matches are provided. Team fight only for rank points, which will be important in the future.

Stadium

Temporary teams will play their matches on their own stadiums. In the future we will consider the option of playing matches on clubs` arenas.

Other info

- If national coach quits the game - new ellection is called.
- Everyone can watch national matches (not only Plus holders).
- National coach soon will be able to change national team`s emblem and post anouncements on the first page. This is the best place for announcing what players are needed. Please don`t flood forums:).
- Soon closed forum for national coaches will be created.
