Subject: New NTDB Database

2009-05-09 23:35:48
Sorry guys for this time.

In fact, as I'm in a new job now, I have not that free time to work with the NTDB. In this way, rtg (Here) and laerg (Here) are also allowed to develop it. You can ask them for any ideas.

@Danny: you can install the FireSokker version available in my club main page and use FireBug to check what are variable names used by the NTDB. Required fields are marked in red in the NTDB main page.
It will redirect to any country database, but won't work properly with SO since you send directly the POST awaiting the true/false response and this index page will await for a click confirmation. I don't know what solution could be possible there, perhaps keep DB adress as currently, one by country, and send data to the send.php page directly.

@Nikolajbobov: I completelly agree with you.
@rtg: please, could you take a look on it? I think an easy and powerfull way of doing it is to use some jQuery. All players can be printed in 2 columns (IN and OUT). Every player inside a separeted dragable div with id=PID. Everytime a player changes from out to in or in to out container div, jQuery can send an asyncronous post to scripts/controlsquad.php?pid=12345&action=add page (just an example). It'd be very fast since no page reload would be needed.

@Nin: I'm not sure it's possible about your Export idea. First of all, this xls file is generated as text file and I don't know how to add hyperlink to it. Second, why don't just use the NTDB site for checking a given player? I think the Export Tool is very usefull when you decide to migrate data to another site, when you want to do some studies on player data (averages, rating, talent, etc) or even if there's a crash on the database in an unlucky day. About manually assigning position to a given player, rtg has already aswered. If a given player is not in the good position, it means your requirements are not adequate. But...
@rtg: could you add the field position to the editplayer page? Just print a SELECT DISTINCT position, positionname FROM requirements WHERE country=XX. (see correct field names in the requirements page).

@Mr_Newton: I think your problem is solved now, is it? I keep the previous recommendation: if a given player have no longer chances in your team, just remove him from the database. It'll help you in using some pages, will increase the site speed and will avoid the problem with the Squad Page (after 800 players, we started to have the same problem in Brazil. I don't think you need to keep more than 500 players in the site, probably a full xls backup would be enough). The site times out in big queries (above 800 rows). An other good habit is to start filtering by age or position since it'll limit the number of players to be shown.

@Tigermaster: could you please send me a PID with which the problem with sk@ is ocurring? Please, send me it by sk@ including a temp Main Assistant account. I'll check what the problem can be.

@rtg: I'm not sure about what is the newest FireSokker version. After sokker created the superdivine skill I created a beta (0.3.1.b) FireSokker version (including the sk@ tool). It can be found in my club main page or using the FireSokker link in the NTDB.
I have also 3 translation files with me. Could you check and add it to the NTDB? If so, I'll send it for you by mail. Thanks in advance.

Sokker Organizer no longer updates the NT database, can someone look at it?
2009-05-13 14:40:54
did it ever?

In case of the older portuguese nt database, we could.
Now due the new global nt database we no longer can.

In the new one every country has is own php file related with its nt players?

In the old NTDB it worked. There was a special page "sendso.php".

It's no longer available since NTDB requires now many other fields that SO don't send (including skill 18, countryID, etc). An update is required to make things work again.

The sendso page doesn't exists any more. But it's not complicated to recreate it (even if I prefer people update players using the FireSokker extension - for Brazil).

Currently, the FireSokker+NTDB act like:

- FireSokker send player data + countryID using a POST submit to an unique adress;
- "redir.php" page read countryID, scan the NTDB list of DB adress and check the current adress of the CountryID database;
- if this country is hosted in the NTDB, the "redir" page redirect all info to the "index" page;
- if not, the "redir" page redirect all info to the saved adress;
- for NTDB host, after data is sent to the "index" page, it load a form and keep awaiting for the user confirmation;
- before confirmation, the owner should fill manually player training and aditional notes about the player;
- using SO, these last info will be missing;
- if all required fields are filled, the player is sent to the "send.php" page which check for requirements and save the player in the NTDB;

The form and other public info of all active players were successfully updated

does that mean that player skills are updated if he's transfer listed..? :)
2009-05-15 15:11:07
no
2009-05-16 07:58:52
:(
could it be implemented to do so?
2009-05-16 10:59:45
One of the 1sts things to do is update SO so it has skill 18.
But about that 'waiting for user confirm the type of training'...i dont see a light at the end of the tunnel.

if he's transfer listed, you have 2 complete days to manually check and send him to the NTDB anyway so you should be doing that already :).

I think it's not hard to do.

When automatic update runs, it return you the TL status (the dollar sign on the right). All the NTDB should do is to look for that player complete info and update all it in the database.

I'll consider this idea on the next update. My problem is I'm currently really very busy to work on right now.

thanks

@cometer.. yeah i do check... just a suggestion is all.. as i already know players in the squad etc and usually dont add players if i know theyre there already...
am sure it would be useful for larger countries also where there are probably a few thousand players on transfer ;)
