Subject: Team building discussion
Nice topic and even nicer responses.
BoydStevens, can you please point to this, where can I read it?
"Fourth, and probably the most important is training"
here i agree with you, but i saw recently borkos and mikoos talking about that pace training first is the same that training it at the end... in my mind is hard to believe but i guess if they are saying it it must be true....
Neuro and I have different opinions on pace-first approach, and I would like to see what borkos and mikoos wrote.
Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your experience @neuro. Great summary.
But also, there's nothing really "geeky" about it (except your details) : farming strategy is well known and widespread.
The developers' efforts were aimed at encouraging more active and competitive gameplay (their own words), but it is clear that they have achieved an opposite : farming still works very well, and more than ever. After all, I can assume that this had no impact on “plus” subscriptions. A great farming game. GG !

not true, before it was easier to farm, especially when there were no transfers limitations and people were buying a player and selling him on the same day with profit

You misunderstood.
Farming is not typically day-trading. (farming requires long training, day-trading not)
Second, It's not farming that is typically easier, but rather staying competitive at the highest level while increasing finances is harder.
But let's say its again the same for years. If your prefer. It doesn't change the hype.

Even then after the changes it's harder because of the new fanclub mood, before my team made much more money from match tickets + it made more sense to farm (& earn ticket money) at higher levels than now.

Not sure about that, I rather doubt it. Player wages increased a bit, but top teams got extra home league games, now they play a home game every week instead of every 2 weeks. And that is much, much more income than wages increase expenditure.

It is. Stayin' at uncompetitive level to increase finances, as describe post #1, it is a farming strategy.
Or call this strategy whatever you want. It doesn't matter. It doesn't change my final opinion.

Nice topic with a wrong name though, it should be named Team rebuilding whatever ... :P
1st param : don't forget to add trainers costs in this calculations because, when you start loosing with youngsters they'll be p****d and start retiring one by another! xD
2nd & 3rd - with a bit patience and good choices you don't need any money to find your trainees. Of course, you'll need top club infrastructure (which all oldtimers have, most of the time ..., And I am not saying this without any reason because I bet all of you know at least one sokker nerd who destroyed his own stadium etc. :D).
Beside that, money is needed just to keep things fine.
Training is something where we'll agree to disagree because all of us thinks that our way is THE way ...
Cheers

I am top in my country and I have have prediction of 2,4M profit per season (not including transfers). That is much less than what I lose on decreasing market price of old players I need to have to stay at the top. So definitely it is not sustainable.
But perhaps everything will change with the upcoming International Cup. If I am able to give me young trainees good training without letting them play in the national league, I might not need the farming periods to stay at the top anymore.

However, soccer leagues from the third division downwards are at a distinct disadvantage in terms of spectator revenue because there are still far too many unattractive so-called bot teams in these leagues, which are generally not crowd pullers. This results in considerable losses for soccer clubs in these leagues when they play home games. These unequal competitive conditions compared to the first and second divisions should finally be addressed in a timely manner.
or, in America, literally the second division.
I am probably going down this season (or next, if not as I transition to my first youth rebuild) and it's not the sponsor money I'll miss - it's garbage in both cases - it's the stadium income.
