What about Eddie? Is he interesting at all, or does he need more pace in order to be relevant to the U21?

Eddie is unfortunately a bit weaker than the 19 year olds we have. Nearly all of them have already reached the total skillsum (pace+technique+striker) of 30. So it's not worthwhile to train Eddie for the U21s anymore. Rather give a training place to an 18 year old.
Overview and news of the U21
Abstract:
We already have the first three rounds of the famous MAMMA MIA" MINI WORLD CUP (U20MWC) and we are now in the semi-finals against Austria (a team I led over 14 seasons and know well). The selection of players for the next season is slowly being "calibrated" and slowly we know which players can help us massively and which less.
1st round: Norge U21 - Nicaragua U21 2:0
Goals: Frank Bjørk and Øyvind Nordvik
Against Nicaragua we were the favorite, but we only scored two goals! This is mainly due to our very young strikers, who are only 19 years old. I wanted to give our substitute goalie some playing practice. He is just as strong as our regular keeper! This game was more about seeing which defenders complement each other well, which midfielders can help us and above all where in the field.
2nd round: Australia U21 - Norge U21 0:2
Goals: Magnar Skar and Frank Bjørk
Australia could not be compared with Nicaragua, and yet, thanks to their coach, they gave a great performance in this game. Fortunately, the goal scoring on our part had been efficient! Worth mentioning is the transfer of Mathis Trengereid from midfield to forward! Did that help our goal efficiency? Good question!
3rd round: Moldova U21 - Norge U21 0:1
Goal: Frank Bjørk
Again our striker Bjørk scores for the third time in this tournament! Moldova has been the strongest opponent we've met in the tournament so far! And again there was a big surprise especially in the storm! New was Ingar Rekdal right at the front! What does the U21 coach from Norway do? Rekdal delivered a very good game and especially tired the opponent's defense! Also new in the game was Peder Dagsland, who did not perform badly.
Prospect:
We now play in the semi-final against Austria! We now slowly have two good goalkeepers. We have a choice of eight defenders! We don't have to worry about that for next season. Problem children are our MID and Sturm! In the midfield I have a pool of 4 players, but in the course of this season I will be able to add two more players to this pool, that's very safe! In the forwards I have a pool of 9 players, almost all of them are 19 years old. Unfortunately the best of them hasn't had any form for weeks!

News, overview and updated list of the best juniors in Norway
First of all the games and results:
Österreich U21 - Norge U21 3:1
That was such a close game! It was the semi-final of the Mamma Mia Cup and Austria is a team I know very well, because I was U21 coach there for 14 seasons and I still have very friendly relations with Austria. But during 90 min resp. 120 min this friendship was hidden. Austria was already considered the favorite, because they have a slightly better squad than we do, which means that we only have a tactical chance. In fact, it was so that thanks to the tactics, we could no longer detect an advantage of Austria, because the game was very balanced. We even had the chance to decide the game in the last 5 minutes of the game. But here you could see the difference to Austria: Our strikers are still one year too young for this, while Austria's striker made everything clear in overtime! Congratulations to Austria! That was a pretty good game!
Īrān U21 - Norge U21 1:0
Game 1 after the elimination of the Mamma Mia Cup! As it seems, I have a special weakness against Iran (we already lost in the last game, but that was due to my stupidity when I substituted a striker as goalkeeper in the last 20 min, that was a mistake of mine). But this time we were decisive and oppressive. It wasn't an inevitable defeat and in the Sokker it happens from time to time that weaker teams have a chance to win. It was not our day and we were not able to turn our chances into goals. That is already our biggest weakness, because our strikers are all one year too young.
Danmark U21 - Norge U21 0:1
A Scandinavian Derby with our beloved neighbor from Denmark! I wanted to learn the lesson from the Iran game and work out a clear plus in chances, so that our strikers have the chance to finally score a goal. That was probably one of the best games I had with the U20. Rarely have we dominated so much as in this game and we worked out three times more chances than our rivals. But the fact that only 1 goal out of 9 chances resulted is still worrying!
Today it's against Switzerland, who are favorit and have a very strong player material!
List of the best norwegian juniors
Further important work steps have been carried out in the background: Scouting of the U18, U19 and U20 team. My aim is to scout the best Norwegian players and to stay in contact with the club owners. This is a big and extensive task for me, but I enjoy it very much and I do my best. You can now find the updated list of Norway's best youth players under this link! Is one of your players missing? Then send me the skills via SK-Mail:
https://sokker.org/forum/ID_forum/32317
The brief overview reveals that we are very well positioned for the positions of goalkeeper and defense. Finally, we have two goalkeepers, both of whom are almost divine. In defense, I can proudly say that we have about 7 players for next season, who have at least a 16 in DEF. But the speed weakness is still being corrected (most of them now get 100% pacetraining by playing more than 90 min per week).
With concern I have to see the MID. We basically only have 4 players that can be used. Otherwise we already have to use players from the U19 and maybe soon U18 as well.
For the striker position, we only have one 20-year-old striker (but he is actually not suitable for this position, but I have no other choice). Otherwise, we have 4-5 good U19 strikers, but they are just one year too young for the coming season.

Schweiz U21 - Norge U21 0:0
Oh! I did not really expect that! Maybe the game against Denmark was a break for Norwegian football? We were absolutely convincing against Switzerland and had a better chance against a strong team. The only thing we can criticize is the way we used our chances. But that's normal, because our striker is practically a year too young. But overall, the performance of the U20s is very encouraging. Defensively, like against Denmark, we were absolutely convincing, although we used two different goalkeepers in these two games and six defenders for the four DEF positions. There we have a useful variability!
Next week we start with the Copa America (cf. see page 11 of this thread: Our colleague Saimon has already fixed our game plan!).

News from U21
Norge U21 - Nicaragua U21 1:0
That was the opening game in Copa America (link in spanish)! We have to win against Nicaragua and I knew that Nicaragua will play very defensively. And he did! At the back Nicaragua was very difficult to crack and that was even more difficult for us because we don't have a "killer forward". The most important scene of the game took place on 47 minutes: Freddy Orvik made an ingenious pass forward and the ball found Øyvind Nordvik and he was suddenly alone in front of the goal! You already know the result! Unfortunately our midfield pitbull Mats Kjeldsberg injured himself in this game for 21 days! That is so bitter because we need him! We don't have that many midfielders!
Cuba U21 - Norge U21 0:1
FINALLY! Now I have achieved what I wanted to achieve for a long time! To win against a team from the top 16 (top 16 is pot 1 in the draw for the World Cup Qualifiers). Cuba was on the 9th place and therefore belongs to the top nations in the U21 selection! This victory is for me personally the biggest victory in my term as Coach of U21 of Norway! The goal was scored by Jakob Sørby, who only scored his first goal for Norway in his 17th game (!!!)!
Next week we will play against the USA, who lost against Nicaragua!

I have ;) A very talented keeper
Really! Can you write me a SK-Mail with his skills. I try to coordinate the talents. Norway already has two 18-year-old goalkeepers and yours is also 18. It would be a pity if all three of them were trained very well at the same time, because in the end only one of the three will play more often.
@all:
It would make sense now to train only 16 or 17 year old goalkeepers.
3rd matchday Copa America
USA U21 - Norge U21 1:3
That was a good game from us! We got again after a long time a goal, but this was due to a penalty kick. That means we came even stronger during the game in defense! Slowly our defensive players reach a double-digit number in pace and it is slowly paying off. We have two good strong goalkeepers for this.
Our weakness is still our midfield. We have 3-4 players for it, but that's it and then we have to play with younger generations. That's already the case in forwards. Except for Rekdal (actually he is not a real striker, but he is a very good option at the moment. Improvisation is also very much in demand), all of the strikers are U19 and fortunately they're getting better and better.
I don't want to rejoice too soon, but it's nice to be back in the top 40 in the world ranking. The goal we are aiming for is clearly that Norway will be in the top 32. To achieve this, Norway has to perform very well in the World Cup qualifying in the coming season.

Norge U21 - Paraguay U21 2:3
That was a painful defeat! Note that this result actually means the penalty shootout. After analysing the game, I came to the conclusion: Our strikers are not efficient enough, but it was not the strikers' fault, but my tactics. It's true that the tactics against such a team are very good against Paraguay, but we didn't have the appropriate players and that's why it's probably a mistake on my part. Paraguay defended with 3 defenders and that's why I wanted to attack through wings, but our winger was just too bad for the task. Bitter realisation!
Norge U21 - Uruguay U21 1:0
But that was the next nice surprise! We got a good result against a top team. The golden goal was scored by our Frank Bjørk and unfortunately he had to be replaced after the goal. At the back we played very securely and hardly allowed any real chances.
Norge U21 - Ecuador U21 2:1
Another victory! Already in the first 15 minutes we scored two goals from two chances. Both times prepared by Mats Kjeldsberg, who made his 34th game for the U21. The Ecuadorian goal came from a penalty!
I'm proud to say that I had to search long and hard to find the last time we even got a regulation goal! That was on 30 October 2020!
New Season - World Cup Qualification - Elections
1. Hellas U21
2. België U21
3. Norge U21
4. República Dominicana U21
5. India U21
6. al-Jazā’ir U21
A brief analysis says that the Greeks and Belgians are the top favourites for the first two places. Rep. Dominicana and us, however, can cause surprises. India and Algeria are teams we absolutely have to beat.
So, I have been preparing the current squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers for almost two seasons. What has changed since then compared to the last World Cup qualification? A lot! We have very good goalkeepers again (2!) and we have a wide selection of defenders (two of whom would also be allowed to play as regulars in many top nations). Our MID is about the same as last time, but the width of such players has become somewhat smaller. The situation with the strikers has changed negatively. We have a 21-year-old striker, but he would actually be better suited in other positions. After that, we have a huge selection of U20 strikers. They are not bad, but they are a year too young!
In terms of scouting, we need to use our resources a bit more wisely. That's one thing I always want to keep an eye on. It's improved compared to the last few seasons. Still, World Cup qualification will be very difficult!
AIn any case, I'm having a lot of fun and I hope you'll vote for me! The secret goal for this season is probably to reach the top 32. That will be a difficult thing, but not impossible. We have good conditions for it: (Norge U21 2030.48) That means we want to win at least 1 time against Greece or against Belgium.

Dear all!
First of all I would like to wish the Norwegian community a wonderful new year 2021! I thank you very much to the 6 votes I got in the election. This means that the Norwegian community is still alive! However, I would like to see more some participation and more life in the forum, but right now Christmas and New Year's Eve took place. I absolutely understand that.
I do however request that you keep posting regularly on the forum if you have drawn a youth player that may be of interest to the U21. We do have some good playing material for this season and next season, but the planning always goes on and the U19 and U18 need to be scouted as well.
Well, that was one thing and the other thing is the World Cup qualification. Today the first round starts! What a joy! We start against Dominican Republic! A truly strong team. My scouts informed that at least three defenders of Dominican Republic are already divine in defense. In return, they are a bit slower. But they are already strong, my scouts told me. We don't have to hide there. In midfield, however, the scouts see slight advantages for Dominican Republic. They have a monster in midfield, but he specializes mainly in setting up plays and then they would have two balanced midfielders. Due to the absence of our shooting star Ulvin, we will have a bit of a hard time taking the hand in midfield.
In the forward line, we should see a balanced picture here. Here my scouts could not tell me, because they had a few drinks at the end of the trip in the Dominican Republic. What the heck! This will be a game on equal terms and we will have to force luck on our side! We unfortunately have players with deeper form in certain positions, but somehow it has to go :)
Oh yes, the link to the game: *klick*
The declared goal of this season is: 2nd place
That's a difficult goal, but I don't want to define any other goal. Otherwise I wouldn't be credible enough. It's doable, but a real challenge. We'll see week by week.
Another goal concerns the ranking: We are number 38 in the world at the moment. We want to be better than 38 at the end of the season.

República Dominicana U21 - Norge U21 0:0
This is a result that I unfortunately feared. I have already mentioned in advance that Dominican Republic has very strong defenders. In addition, their goalkeeper was also extra class. So, a similar team to us. The strikers of both nations were also a bit weaker. From there, a goalless draw is the logical consequence.
Therefore, the thought had come that Norway would play with a tactic that could create many scoring chances and then I hoped that one of these chances would find its way into the goal. We also see that we shot three times more on goal than the Dominican Republic. In any case, this is a result that doesn't help us much if we want to reach our top goal.
Next week we play group favorite Greece, who will start with a different coach that I didn't expect. Greece is now under pressure to win and will try to get three points against us. We have what it takes to get at least one point. I am curious about that!
