it's going to be a hard and boring season, Austria did not qualify for the WC, there will be a lot of time for testing at least. I guess the Mamma Mia WC will take place as well and later the so called DACH cup (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and a 4th country), both are usually U20.
since I used to be U21 coach in the past I know that our country traditionally has in one generation either strongs ATTs, strong MIDs or strong DEFs. For GKs, there are at least always one or two 15+ available, currently there are some prospective young ones in our team.
finally the question: if you could make a wish, which part should be the strongest of the team (maybe a ranking)?

As a long-time U21 coach, I only have to say the following, because Batto has already said many things right:

Since Austria didn't make it through the qualifying round, it's now important not to rely on the new U21, but to go straight for the U20 and U19.

It's not only the tactics that are important, but also scouting and coordinating players and closing gaps where there is a need to catch up (The goalie position is always a stroke of luck).

the break between eliminations doesn't have to be boring - it all depends on what your goal is at the beginning of the season.
Austria is ranked 31st which means potentially two strong opponents on the way to the championship - so I would like to improve Austria position in the ranking
To do this :) theoretically, you need good players in every position. From my experience in Andorra, I know that having a good goalkeeper and very strong midfielders is enough. With at least one good striker and good defenders, you can fight even the strongest team,

Austria has more than 40 users this huge potential - Crna Gora ended their journey in the second round, Norge with 40 users had silver medal

Yeah! It's possible but a hard work! Go for it!

ps: yeah, a good GK is very important. I had to make this experience in Norway. There you get the easiest goal in the world, if the goalkeeper only has a 10 in GK.

I agree - we should focus on u19 and u20.
u20 players give us promotion
u19 give us joy with the results at the championship
#slamtam, you concluded in the most transparent way what awaits us - "coordinating" I will add also communicating

Why you dont tell us about canada u21?

Hi
it's great that you looked at my topic.
Sure i can :)
Canada had two strong points - great keeper and very good defenders - i played with opponents which had great strikers and i lost only 8 goals in 12 matches so i am proud.
The weak points of Canada were strikers - they had a lot chance to shooted goal but they did not have lucky or they did not have talent.
I think two draws with Serbia was big success, my Polish mate which is Serbia u21 coach wrote to me - how you did this?

Yes l, i finished on 4th position - my goal was third, after 7 matches i started thinking that maybe Canada got promotion but like i wrote above my strikers did not shoot goals.
As conclusion- My Canadia mate SubaruFC wrote

"I will vote for you if you decided to continue.

I think you did a fantastic job this season. I feel like you have made the most with the limited resources that Canada has to offer"

Like Forest Gump said "that's about it"

I would like to continue here. any coach would want a staff like this one. I want to try to build a team that I can fight with any top team.
As for my rezults I am not satisfied . And I will understand perfectly if the Austrian community will want someone else.

I agree with you. A lot of NT coaches want to have such potential like have Austria.
We can discuss and writing about our vision how to manage this team to achive the promotion on championship.

So Joker, great that you join to discuss becuase now this topic help Austrian users to choose the best option for their u21 team.

As the long-time U21 scout for Austria, I will definitely continue to ensure that the players' data are as current as possible.

Mhm, against Uzbekistan, Österreich will win! good U20 goalie (gottesmacher or solner), good U20 defenders like kasimir gallen or werner lindek, but only a very good striker (rambo leddig)...! About mids, im just wondering who will play ;)

but real life with Norway, I don't really know who good they are :)
