- "Go further than you can!" -

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
First of all congratulation to slovak coach Jezo, who succeeded in qualifying to the next U21WC. Also my greetings to Finland, they won against USA and they qualified it too.
I want also to thank the community for supporting my team by training and substituting in their matches U21-players, who normally would stay on the bench.

Mr Tsolias, I ask you again, what about the game?
One hour before our match in Slovakia, Finland had won against USA 3-0. So we needed to win this game in order to have the chance to qualify. A draw would be not enough and so I had to take bigger risks.
I changed our first tactic to a 5-3-2 tactic with a winger. It was quite similar with the winning tactic against Finland.

It worked very well except on the 21st minute. Slovakia kicked the ball out of the pitch and our defender Tapaya (who marked their winger) played the ball from the line. The Slovaks won immediately the ball and passed to their free winger who created the goal. He was free because our fastest defender Tapaya was still near the line and far away from the slovak winger.

I can not tell anything about our tactics on the second goal. It was simply not possible to avoid it. It happened suddenly, because of the worlclass technique of the slovak players.
After it we changed to a more risky tactic and Slovakia could score 2 more goals.

Slovakia run 4-0 over your team. Do you think you could avoid it?
That´s what I tried and I failed. I failed on winning this game. You know, Slovakia is a bigger community. We had last season just 3 junior schools. Perhaps they are now only 2. Slovakia has more than 82, perhaps 100. This means they have at least 30 times more chances to have players like Agbulos.
We had some chances to qualify, because we are more careful with the training of young players. They are monitored and if possible, we decide how they will train.

Does this big difference in number of junior schools make such a big difference in the team?
Oh yes. I´ll tell you 2 facts.
Fact 1: The value of the field players: Only one from our field players had a higher value than 3,85 mil.P. (600.000 €). The Slovakians? All field players except one had higher value than 3,85 mil.P. (600.000 €).
Fact 2: Form. They have more players to choose from. The form of their field players: All over 15 (magical) and three field players with 11, 9 and 11. Ours? Our defenders: 18, 13, 12, 7, 2. Ok, I had one more defender with form 16 on the bench, but he is much slower than our nominated defenders. Have you seen the game? I think all players from Slovakia were faster...

The title of this matchreport is "Go further than you can!". What do you mean?
I spoke about it on the matchreport of week 2 (against Slovakia again).
I want to say that we steped further than we could; we reached over our limit. On the last 19 games we lost only 2 times. Both times against Slovakia.
And you know what? The next generation can be stronger!
The routines that made this team come so close to the qualification have already started. We started earlier this time to take care about our young players and perhaps the next generation will set new limits, they can reach even further.

So, you are satisfied with this generation?
Look at the name of the slovakian tactic. They used 2 tactics in all games except our games. They needed a special tactic to get the result they wanted (and unfortunately they got it).
I am satisfied with this generation. Absolutely.
Ok, I promised the qualification and I failed with it. But I gave my best and our supporters did the same. I tell it again: Only 2 lost games of the past 19!
People from different countries watched our games and hoped we will make it. People mentioned our U21 in forumtopics in different countries.
And if you observe our results, it´s not only because of my tactics. It´s also because of the junior schools of Acelio, of Marc and of Bulacañeo. And it´s also because some more people give to our players best training conditions.

You mentioned before, the next generation. Will you continue?
As I told some weeks before, I plan to continue in another team.

Is it Hellas U21, Greece? Is it Germany?
Both coaches of these teams have success. I would not challenge somebody who succeeds in what he is doing.

And what about Spain, Uruguay, Eesti, Chile, England, Österreich?
If users in Spain want me to take over the spanish U21, I would love to do it. I would love also to manage the team of Austria, because I lived there (if manager Slamtam stops). I lived one year in Austria, in Vienna - lovely city!

So, you will leave?
I told you. Only if the communities show interest and at the present time I do not know if they are interested. If they are not, why not continuing with the Azkals?

First of all congratulations for the overall performance this season!!We are all gratefull for the results you bring to Pilippinas!!I am sure that everybody hopes that you will change your mind and stay to Pilipinas Team for many seasons to go!!But even you choose to leave everyone will be proud because you trained Pilippinas U21 as one of the most succesfull managers!!

Kind Regards
2016-12-18 00:27:13
I agree with Lorenzos about us hoping that you will change your mind but I also do understand your reason why. Whatever happens, we would like to thank you for all the work you have done for the U21, and even the senior national team!
2016-12-18 10:37:36
Kostas is leaving? There's no way we will let him go!
For all that you have done all of the seasons you worked with the U21 NT, you must continue your work. The only option here is you and Lorenzos changing places - you get the seniors and he takes over the youngsters.
I think you don't want all of your achievements and hard work get wasted, do you? :)

"Kostas is leaving? There's no way we will let him go! "

You were right! I´ll stay in the U21 :D

I will write more about it on the next matchreport, on Friday.
If you have questions, you are welcome -as always- to post them and I will answer everything ;)

- "Early injury of keeper helps USA to win the match for the 3rd place" -

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
First of all I want to tell you I hope you had a nice Christmas and I wish you all best for 2017!

Mr Tsolias, I ask you again about the match: Can you tell us some words about the match?
I am sure we would win the match if our keeper would not get an injury. Tactically everything worked perfect and I repeat it: I am sure we would win.
The problem was that our second best goalkeeper has no experience and he has just the 15% of worth in value in comparison to our first keeper. This is the problem with countries that have just a few users; there are no equal substitutes and there are not enough players in good form.
Exactly this is a situation that makes me get frustrated. I do not like to complain about the weak alternatives, about the low number of users and junior schools. But that is the reality. The other teams have a big advantage and even if they play with crap tactics, they can win because one of our players get injured.

This was the last game of this U21 generation. Which players do you believe will have a future as NT-players?
Keeper Alcazar and striker Abgulos for sure! They are high skilled and very talented.

And what about Tabian or Perez?
Perez could also be an alternative (not a first NT choice) if he gets a lot of training. He is not so skilled like Agbulos, his talent is also weaker, it is arround 3,9.
Tabian looks high skilled. He is a member of my club and I can tell you he has no talent. It´s arround 5,33 and it took me a lot of time to train him. He will be transfer listed very soon, but I would not buy a player in this age with talent over 4,5.

What about the players who will turn age 21 on this Friday?
Panaguindo, Quinahan, Carasig, Maturin and Tapaya may develop very good.

And Sapigao?
His talent is even worse than Tabian´s. Sapigao was lucky to have such skills in this age just because me, a dutch manager and a greek manager gave him a lot of training in the age between 17 and 19. As you now all players develop faster in young age. The talent is a factor that plays a bigger role if they are over 20.

In the last press conference you told "I plan to continue in another team". Then you told you will stay. Now the election has began and you have still not candidated. Will you continue or not?
It is difficult for me to decide. I stll have not decided.
I am now 8 seasons in Pilipinas. 128 weeks! Every Thursday I prepared the team, after each game I wrote a match report, I had a lot of support from a lot of people... I don´t know, I write these sentences only to figure out what to do. I told past week via skmail to Acelio and to Lorenzo that I will stay; I told the same on this forum to Vampyr and now, I am still thinking of candidating for the german U21. I am afraid I will postpone again my decision for this weekend. I am sorry about not beeing ready to answer you and been confused.

What would make your decision easier?
I really have no idea right now.

Awesome job this season, my friend. Who would've expected that much from such a small country.
The last season was very good for the senior NT and this time you showed that there still is a lot of potential in Pilipinas.
The next one cannot be worse!

- "Wrong tactics against a team driven by a experienced and accurate manager" -

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
First of all I wish you all best for 2017 and I also wish you a successful new sokkerseason!
About the match: You can read about it on the title; Romanian coach l-zsolt does not forgive mistakes and I did one on this match. The first tactic was a wrong approach and our defence had big problems to stop the australian strikers.

Is there anything you can do in the future, so it will not happen again?
I will start with this game to keep more notices about the tactics of each game. Nevertheless, this can happen again and again. I cannot promise you playing again 19 games with only one game lost. Our team is weak and it´s not possible each time to guess the tactic the opponent coach will choose.
Furthermore, some times I prefer to spend more time with family and friends and sokker becomes second priority.

You used 14 players and only 6 are in the age of 21. Why didn´t you nominated more players in the age of 21?
These are our best players. There are no better alternatives. In the past season only 2 junior schools were active. Lorentzo, our NT-manager informed me in the past days, that Ceqcfc will reactivate his junior school. If it is true, then it is good news! I also hope in the new year that Bulacañeo will find again interest on sokker.

You told these are our players. Do you think this team can progress?
Yes I believe. We had three times in the past a similar situation and the team made big progress. The managers of our players train them a lot (full training) and if they don´t, I ask them to sell the players, so they can move in a club where they will receive more training. Most times they cooperate.

What about next game?
Next game is a very special one!
New Zealand was one of the big suprises in the qualifiers. Their community is so small like ours, and they were very close to qualify. They lost the qualification for the U21WC only because the groupleader Bosnia underperformed. They played 0-1 against Netherlands and the dutch won 3 points they needed to qualify instead of New Zealand. It would be one of the greatest sokker sensations and it did not happen because of a scandalous result.

The most important actor of New Zealand is their coach Purple043. He lives about 13 km from my home - he is also Hellene (Greek). He is one of the best tacticians and there is something that I want to tell you.
I started with the Azkals before 10 seasons. The season before I started, there were 2 candidates for Hellas U21. The one was Purple043 and the other was me. Purple043 won the election and his results were super. That´s why I decided next season not to candidate again in Hellas but here.
By the way, Purple043 qualified in the U21 World Cup, in the group stage, in a group with Argentina, Bulgaria and Spain. In the knockout games he faced again Argentina and he won. He was denied the chance for a medal by Poland.
So, next game is against one of the best sokker managers!

Press Conference
- "A new Era begins" -

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
(Tsolias): It was a big game, because we had a big opponent. Read about New Zealand´s Greek coach in the previous press release from las week.
On the first 15 minutes I was happy that we could stop the Kiwis from scoring. Our team reacted very clever. We gave them room to attack and when we gathered the ball, we attacked very fast. It was a very nice performance from our U20 team.

Can you give us some more information about our team?
(T.): Bugia, our best defender has a tragic (0) form. So he was given a defensive midfielder role and he did it not perfect, but enough good. I think we have very nice players in all lines; especially our goalkeeper and our strikers will shine.
I am also happy about our 3 debutants. They got about 10 minutes and with some more training they will estabilish their place in the squad.

Is it true that it was your last match?
(T.): As you know from the other topic, it happened suddently. You can read there everything about the change. It hurts me to leave and I can understand also, that everybody feels uncomfortable with this sudden decision.
On the other hand I have a very nice feeling with the coach I promoted, with Bill. He has big passion passion about the game. He will do the coaching job and I promised to assist him in managing the squad and in some communication cases.

You told that you failed on leading Pilipinas to the U21WC. Is it the real reason for leaving?
(T.): I told I failed and this is true. Perhaps Bill will do it, or not. The matter that counts is the heartbeat I felt most times before a match. Pilipinas is now in my heart and this counts.
I want to thank you everybody, one by one, but you know what? I am not leaving. I will continue as assistant. I hope the era that started today with the U20 team will be a great time and I also hope you trust Bill to lead the Azkals to new frontiers, starting with the next match with Scotland. Two managers from Hellas in their U21-debut. Very interesting!
Ah! There is Bill coming, "Kill-Bill"!!!

Mr Bill, Bill!! Some questions! What about the game?
(Bill): It was an even game, but there was no possibility to loose this match, because of Tsolias!

Which player did you liked most?
(B.): Number 5, Karl Devance, the defender. I don´t know why, but the hole time I had him on focus.

Will you keep the schedule of the matches Tsolias appointed for next season? If yes, also the match against Romania?
(B.): Of course yes. Especially the match with Romania.

Will Tsolias leave his U21-tactics for you?
(B.): Tsolias will be my mentor in every aspect of the team.
(Tsolias): Please let me answer this. The tactic we played today will remain, because I think it´s a very nice one. On the other hand, Bill is a skkermaniac and I hope his tactics are better than mine. Who knows...? I will leave some slots free for his tactics.

Mr Bill, do you have something more to say?
(B.): I just ask for some time and some help from the managers. Thank you!
(Tsolias): I have something to say: Acelio THANK YOU for your trust in the past 128 (!!!) weeks. I do not say good bye - we will stay in contact - just a new chapter started, a new era. Let´s think positive and make the best of it!

Thank you for all the seasons trying to improve Pilipinas U21 (and Pilipinas NT) even though there was a decline in the number of users and youth school. I hope you get more experience in coaching other national teams! Good luck with your sokker like and your real life :) Maybe one day, you'll consider handling the U21 or senior national team again and maybe I'll still be here :D Thank you for everything, from the Pilipinas sokker community!
