Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
I had to watch the game for a second time, to realise that we had a good performance. After the early goal on the 12th minute I was very disappointed and stressed and I could not enjoy this game.
On the second time I watched the game, I realised that our team performed in most parts of the game as it was planned.

After watching the game, I think a draw would be the right result. Haven´t you the same opinion?
No, definetely not. I used 2 new tactics for this game and when I created them I was sure that we will score the winning goal in the last 30 minutes, as it happened. I have a big respect for italian coaches, like the coach of the Sénégal U21 team and so, I had to create something new.

Shouldn´t Sénégal be an easy oponent?
Aux contraire! They have an italian coach and they won last Friday the US team. You have also to consider the low form of our best player, Mangrubang, and the mediocre form of our defenders.

What to keep from this game?
Keep Manalot, Cabungcal, Balatibat and Bahande. 4 players from the U19, with big future!

Next game is against Cymru. What do you have to say about this match?
Wales has a german coach, onkelchen. He is very experienced and I like to play against german coaches. I lived in Germany for 23 years, so for me it´s big fun :)

With 4 U19 players playing this season, I think that it shows that we may have a good future :) I just hope that the loss of the best teams in the country will not affect the U21 team that much. What position is your goal for this season? :)
2015-08-08 07:37:52
I like to put my goals further more than I can reach. The goal was qualification. I think I lost it after the games with USA and Uruguay...

I am very happy about the 4 players. Before 2 seasons there were only 2 U19 players (Mangrubang and Duyan).

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
First of all I want to express my gratitude to the german coach of Cymru, onkelchen, who had the idea to play with U19. This game is firstly a chance to plan the future. Secondly it can give some more motivation to the managers of the players to focus on their development.

What do you see in the future of this U19 team?
- First: I see a team with a very strong goalkeeper. We played today with Ali Halum, our third option. Bahande and Alcazar are the other 2 options. All 3 are at the same level and Alcazar is the youngest one.
- Second: The defending line performed perfect. All defending players still need some improvement.
- Third: The midfieldplayers are very promising. Balatibat and Cabungkal are allready important members of our U21.
- Fourth: Strikers... I see a problem in the attacking line. Manasas is the best U19 striker and his coach was suspended. So he will not develop anymore. I see 2 options. The current players have to train only in one of the three strikerskills (pace, technique, striker), or young strikers have to move to teams which specialize in striker-skills-training (like Tony Tumbaga did before 2 weeks - he moved to Ioannina A.C, the team of our NT-coach).

At the current time there are less than 10 managed teams in Pilipinas and only 3 of them have academies. Is this the end of high hopes for the NT and the U21?
I would say it is a challenge. If we manage to bring young players in the right teams, then 3 academies can be enough. It is not the quantity, but the quality. A magic youth coach is more than enough. The rest is to sell players in age of 16, 17 or 18 to teams which specialize in training of a single skill.

Why is it so important the specialisation in trainingskill?
A player with a skill of 13 in striker and 7 in pace and technique can be much more effective in scoring than a player with 9 in all of these 3 skills. The coach of him can make tactics to get more things of him. His manager can also sell him in a unbelievable higher price.
I can tell the same about a sriker with 13 in pace and 7 in the other 2 skills, or with 13 in technique and 7 in pace and striking.
This is the one part of my answer. The other part has to do with the development and the training of the players. I wrote an article about it before some months. Now, I have the latest results of the german project Trainingstabelle. According to this a player needs every year aprox.8-10% more training to develop. He also needs 7-8% more training for every higher skill-level.
This means it is more effective to train young players in only one skill, till they achieve magical (15) or unearthly (16).
This can be figured out of the following tables (they are made for the next article I will write). You can see how many minutes a player needs for his next popup, according to the conditions given in the article about training. These numbers are based on the latest figures of the german project Trainingstabelle and to my own figures.

reminder:

Why do you share all these informations?
I want players with higher skills in Pilipinas U21. By sharing my knowledge, some users may specialize in a specific skill, some other users may sell their young players to users who specialize in training, and I hope all of the users in Pilipinas will give a higher priority in the finances of their clubs.

Why a higher priority in the finances?
If your finances are Ok, then you can give the best training to your players, by having a magical (15) head coach and 3 magical (15) assistants.
If your finances are OK, then you can have better players and win more games and have more fun.
To have better finances, you have to plan for the next 16 weeks.

Tell us something about the game against Cymru U19?
As I told you last week, Wales has a german coach, onkelchen. He is very experienced and I like to play against german coaches. I lived in Germany for 23 years, so for me it´s big fun :)

Next qualification game is in Sénégal. What do you have to say about this match?
We won last week the first game by 2-1. It was a difficult game. Next game it can be more difficult, unless the form of our players starts to raise. I hope so...

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
I watched the game twice, I studied the stats and I know for sure we could get at least a draw if I had not changed the tactics for the last minutes of the game and if I realized that with the change of the tactics it would be much better if Conlu or Musni would swap place with Mangrubang.

Why did you changed tactics?
I was affraid that our players get tired... Now, after the game I know, I shouldn´t change tactic.

As we know, your club, FC Franconia Athen, is performing splendid this season; both the senor and the juniors team. Why aren´t you so succesfull with Pilipinas U21 this season??
I think it happens because I had no concrete vision about the skills of the U21 players. I tried to organize some things, like specializing in training, giving usefull information about finances and training, but I missed one critical point.
In order to guarantee some success with an U21 team you need a goalkeeper with goalkeeping skill at least outstanding (12) and you also need one or two strikers with striker skill also at least brilliant (14). I have never put these two simple things as target in my plan. We had no goalkeeper or striker with such level. The teams, who qualify for the WC, mostly have such players.

In order to have such high skilled players you need talented players or not?
Not exactly. You need at least 2 clubs with academy, which is trained by a magical (15) coach, in order to produce players in the age of U18. Further, you need 2 clubs which specialize in training. One in goalkeeping and one in striker. I feel very lucky to have now in Pilipinas one club training goalkeeping. This is 50% of the work. The other 50% was Lapu Lapu City. The club trained strikers, but this club was banned. Now I have to find another one...

The average mark of the team was before 2 seasons between 43.0 and 46.6. In the qualification games this season we have between 45.6 and 48.2. What is your expectation?
Just take a look at last weeks U18-game. If I find somebody who trains only striking and he accepts to train one or two 17 or 18 year old players, then an average mark higher than 50 and close to 55 is possible. It sounds crazy, but a nation with only 3 academies and less than 10 users, like Pilipinas, can build a very big team. From the first day I started beeing coach of Pilipinas U21 I made thoughts of how can this become true. Now, my eyes are shining and my face is smiling, because I believe in it more than ever. I made the same plan (with the level of skills in each position) with my team this season and it works. Now it is time to make the same with the U21.

Mr Tsolias, if your plan succeeds and you have a stronger team, will you be able to gain some benefits? Today you lost the game because you made a double mistake with your tactics!
I admitted in the begin of the interview, that my decision to change tactics was fatal - it is true. Let me ask you 2 questions: First, do you think that this would make a difference if we had at least one striker in the level of brilliant (14)? Second, do you think that I have the same motivation to win each game while the wc-qualification is no more realistic? Sorry, but I have also emotions, I felt disappointed and with this emotion I focus more on what to do to make the next qualification - this qualification is lost after the games against USA and Uruguay.

Next game is against Italy. What do you have to say about this match?
Just enjoy watching Pilipinas U21 playing against the most expensive U21 team we have ever been confronted with.

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
As you know, I am never satisfied by loosing a game. So I decided to take the risk and play with 3 strikers in order to have a minimal chance for a surprise.

Isn´t it too much to play wth 3 strikers against Italy?
The italian strikers are in super form, so, my decision was to make everything possible to score. I could play 5-4-1 or 5-2-3. I decided to play 5-2-3 because of the high defensive skill of our strikers. All players who participated -except Lima- have a high defensive skill.

Despite the high defensive skills you lost 0-5. Did you expected such a result?
Yes I did. I hoped for a surprise, but I would not bet for it. The italian team is the highest expensive team, we have ever played against, in the last 4 seasons. The value of their starting eleven is 84 mil.P.. Even Mangrubang, our best player in todays game, would be the cheapest player among the Italians.

Is there something you can do to make the team of Pilipinas U21 stronger in the future?
I think yes. Last week I talked about specialising in training. No I ask for 2 things:
First: If you train strikerskill, please let me know.
Second: Be aware of the 16 and 17 year old players from Pilipinas. They are the future!

Is there something more you want to say about this?
Yes., I cleared the list of the young players of Pilipinas last week. Suprisingly I saw that about 40 of the 130 players were retired. My surprise was bigger when I realised, that among them, there were 4-5 young players (U19) with promising future.
Sokker is a game of patience. If you don´t have the patience to train young players, do not buy them.

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
As you know, I am never satisfied by not winning a game. I am just: "not disappointed". I know it is a very big result for us, I know that Uruguay has 10 times more users, I know that their starting-eleven-value is higher than ours, but I also know: we could win this game and make a bigger surprise.

Shouldn´t you be happy with a draw as a result?
I saw the game and we missed some big chances for the winning goal. That´s all. I am happy for the result and I want to thank the managers who train our U21 players in their clubs. Season after season the U21 is getting stronger. Today we reached an average mark of 50 and we played 1-1 in the home of the team that is in number 20 of the world ranking.

Last week you spoke about training strikers. Do you have news?
Yes, maybe one manager will concentrate on striker training next season. This can make us unbeatable.

Today we saw a new tactic. What about your tactical strategy?
I tested this tactic on the previous game against Italy. After testing it, I made some modifications and so, we could stop Uruguay.

Onkelchen, the German U21 coach of Cymru (Wales) wished you good luck before the game with a song. Can you tell us which song it is and share with us the link?
Of course! It is the national anthem of Pilipinas in a modern cover with an e-guitar and he wished with it good luck in the last post of the german sokker forum.

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
I booked this game against Albania, in order to check our attacking style against a weaker team, like our next group opponent Ghana. After a long period, it was the first time I could watch a Pilipinas U21 game with no concerns.

What to keep from this game?
Just take a look at the stats of the game. Albania (Shqipëria) has similar number of users ike Pilipinas. We managed in the last time to build a team which achieves an average mark of over 50 without having a super goalkeeper, like Albania has. Imagine now what is possible if we get a super goalkeeper and one or two super strikers in 2 seasons.

At the present time you bought 6 players from Pilipinas in your own team FC Franconia Athens. What is your plan?
Currently there are 7 players from Pilipinas in my team. They all will be trained untill the beginn of the next season. Then I will see...

Is there anything you want to share with the sokker community of Pilipinas?
This time I want to say a big thank you to all users from other countries, who train players from Pilipinas:
- Lelouch, the coach of the NT of Panama, who trains our rock on our defence: Gale Guiang (20), He gave him pace and defence training.
- Jontte, the coach from Finland - he gave pace to Taban Torres, whose skill was hopeless (2) before some seasons and now he is the spark of our offence
And also a big thank you to the users who train at the present time very young U19 players. They help us to build a strong team in the future. Some of these users are:
- Anaconda, the former coach of Romania, who won he World Cup with Romania and trains Benedict Dinolang, a 18 year old hot prospect for our team,
- Ortwin, the Czech coach who trains Abel Cabungcal (18), and also visits frequently our forum,
- Armstrong, the coach from Poland, who trains one of our young goalkeepers, Ali Halum (19)
- Felixthebest, the Italian coach who trains an allarrounder, Ricardo Mabalot (18). You will hear a lot of him in the future.

Mr Tsolias, what about this game?
It was a weak opponent, but it needs some power to score more than 5 goals. Today we scored 12 and I think it´s the second biggest win of Pilipinas U21. I am very happy, because 4-5 players of our future U19 team participated in this game.

What to keep from this game?
Keep the joy of winning 12-0 and the potential of our U19 players.

Why do the page of Lester Alcázar show that he has only 1 international game?
It must be a bug... Perhaps games he played less than 15 minutes do not appear.

What about next game against USA U21?
If we win, we land on place 4 of the qualification group. I will study the next days the way they played in the last games and I hope we will do something for the 0-2 defeat of the first game.

Is there anything you want to share with the sokker community of Pilipinas?
Yes, please do not sell players in the next 2 weeks. The market prices are low as allways at the end of the season. I want your teams to be financial prosper, so that you have the best possible training staff.

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
It wasn´t fun. Balatibat got injured and I hoped to get a better result. Three errors of our defenders led to the final result of 3-0. The team of the USA was again much better than I expected. Compared to the first game, their team value climbed over 23% to 50 million P..

Mr Tsolias, your comment seems very strict; can you point out something positive of your team?
Ok, we created a few chances to score, despite the fact that the US-team is 30% higher valued than ours. In comparison to the first game, our team value also climbed 19% to 38 million P.. And according to the stats it was an even game, despite the fact of the higher quality of the US-players. Furthermore, the experienced Swiss coach Andreasson of the US-team had build a very strong defending wall and his strikers reacted with cold blood after every error of our defenders. If we had the same strikers, the result would be 3-4...

What would you do different in the same game?
If we had the same strikers, I would play 5-3-2 and the result would be 3-6...

What is your opinion about this season?
The goal I have set was the qualification. We landed on the fifth place, so it was a failure.

Ok, this is the strict comment. And now please a fair comment about the season.
Well, we had one good result against Uruguay. The biggest success is the build up of the U19. At the moment, despite the fact of having only 3 academies in Pilipinas, we manage it to have 3 U19 goalkeepers, who are better than the older ones, and 2-3 more U19 field players are part of the current U21 team. 10 more players are closely monitored and I beöieve that our next qualification team will be much better than the US-team, we faced today.

Will you stay at the team for the next season?
It is fun for me to try various new things in order to qualify with a country with only a few users. As long as I see things getting better and as long as the community wants me to continue, I have fun and I want to continue.

What is getting better? Can you explain, please?
I like to compare similar things. In comparison to the last time we played qualification games, before 2 seasons, there are several clues, that things get better. First, there are more U19 players involved in our games. Secondly, before 2 seasons we reached an average mark over 45 just in the last 4 games - the highest was 48. This season we had in all games an average mark over 45 and in the last 5 games it was over 48. The highest team value also climbed from 31.7 million P before 2 seasons to 38.1 this season. All clues prognose an average mark of over 50 in all qualification games in 2 seasons. With such numbers a qualification is more possible than ever.

What do you wish for the next two seasons?
I wish 2 strikers with at least incredible (13) striking skill and at least magical (15) form.

It has been a difficult season for the U21 team and Pilipinas Sokker in general because of the loss of veteran players. The team really lacks good forwards and it is really difficult to win matches without good forwards. However, we've seen your efforts for the U21 team and even the Pilipinas Sokker community and it shows on the progress of the team even with the loss of youth schools. I personally would still want you to coach the U21 for the next seasons and work with you :D

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
I have big respect of the opponent coach, alin_, so I had to be very careful with our tactics. I tried to find the right balance to involve as much U19 players, as possible. I think it was a success to start the game with 4 U19 players and bring as substitutes 3 more U19 players in and finally win the game by 4 goals.

Was it the last game of our U21 players?
Yes, next Friday, all players will be 1 year older. Let me tell some words about these players:
Nabua, it was a big fun for me to have him on my team. Despite his low form, he played constantly better than super!
Torres and Lima; 2 different strikers with allways high form. I could try a lot of things with them, by letting them swap position.
Mangrubang; the best player I had ever on my U21 team. I can still remember the discussion I had with his coach bulacañeo about his training. Mangrubang was a goalkeeper and I wanted him to be trained as goalkeeper. Bulacañeo had another opinion - his opinion was the right one :)
Conlu, Tawatao, Duyan and Pagilagan are also remarcable players, who will get 22 next week.

Was it your last game with Pilipinas?
I will candidate again and I expect to be reelected. I started a project about qualifying in the WC. I don´t know if we will qualify, but I will try it one more time. This time I started with the preparation sooner and all signs indicate that despite the lowερ number of academies, we are on a good way. By signs I mean the quality of the U19 players, their summskill, their mainskill, their value and their monitored progress.

Will you play U20 or U21 next season?
My target is to play all games U20, inorder to have an experienced team in the qualification. I am not sure of getting this done, so some games might be U21.
Musni, Guiang, Mauban, Sugcang and Caesi will have only some few chances to play.

Mr Tsolias, what about this game?
While I watched the game, I thought that I made a mistake and played very attacking, that I should play 5-4-1 etc. I feel ashamed of having lost a game against 10 players.

Why have you chosen to play with this tactics?
India has a very strong goalkeeper. So I thought we need some more chances to score. Lumahan was very close to a goal today, but he was stopped 2 times by goalkeeper Kanetkar and one time by the post.

You played with a very high defence line and so could India score an easy goal. Would it be wiser to play lower defence?
To be honest, I don´t know. The result of the high defence was that India had only two realistic chances to score and they did it once after the lost ball of Guiang.
On the other hand, I don´t know how many chances they would have, if we had a lower defence line.

Since you are coach in Pilipinas, you loose every game in the 15th week. Why does it happen?
Perhaps, I am to risky with the new team after the age update...

Is there anything positive to keep from this game?
Yes, you can compare the teams of the 15th week of the past 5 seasons. The last time Pilipinas won on a 15th week, it was with Torquemada as coach.
It was New Zealand U21 - Pilipinas U21 0:1 with an average mark of 43,9 and team value approx. 23 mil.P..
On the next seasons week 15: Srbija U21 - Pilipinas U21 7:2, with average mark of 40,8 and team value 21,6 mil.P..
On the following seasons week 15: Pilipinas U21 - Hellas U21 1:3, with average mark of 44,9 and team value 26,5 mil.P..
On the past seasons week 15: Pilipinas U21 - Malaysia U21 1:2, with average mark of 44,1 and team value 30,3 mil.P..
On todays week 15 game: Pilipinas U21 - India U21 0:1, with average mark of 46,8 and team value 34,4 mil.P..
I think this is something positive to keep. Both the average mark and the value are increasing. I published a statistic last week. On this you can figure out that also the summskill of the team increases and I also explain why it happens.

Next game is against Cameroun. What about this game?
The only thing I know is that they have a very strong 20 years old goalkeeper.

Abel Cabungcal is MVP once again! He indeed played very well and his performance earned him a place in my starting eleven. And in the last league match he was involved in all three goals of his team (including one assist and one "almost assist").
