Honestly, no idea, just pure laziness. Cant fill even this one with the opposition I have for the most part anyway, but I guess I'll fix it in 2 seasons when I'll sell out the team as they will get too old and if I dont retire from sokker.
For the most of the time I didnt need a big stadium as I was just a training bot for years (and not even for profit, I have a tendency to buy 15m+ trainees and sell them for the same after 5-10 seasons :D)

Well, so something weird happens then
I'm sorry but you really don't have any idea of the problem if you think a small country user can "attack" the champions cup.
Because small countries bring in less money, their trainees "they can use in the league matches" (which is completely wrong), are trainees you wouldn't even consider buying because they are so rubbish.
And then because of the ceiling effect of a small nation, it doesn't matter how good you are at the game, there is no way to compete because the money is reduced, therefore you cannot buy players to compete in Champions Cup. Exactly what has happened to our #1 team who used to rate mid 70's and make it a few rounds in to the CC, now rating anywhere from mid 60's to the odd low 70, winning almost every season in the League, but having fans leave and sponsorship drop.
There has never been an issue training in any country, because there has always been a friendly match which allows you to train half your players free of charge. Then in all top leagues, you need to use your best players to try and win the comp. The problem is, you see how low the bottom half of a small country league ratings are and think "my trainees can beat them, therefore the top teams can use their trainees to beat them" but because you earn more money over the season, you can afford to buy trainees that could beat the bottom half of a small nations top league. But being from the small nation, with less money coming in, our trainees cannot beat the bottom half, because they are all the trainees you overlooked as a waste of time, but it is literally all we can afford.
A number of seasons ago I did research, and showed it on the forums, the difference a new player in a small country had, compared to that coming from a large country, with a lot of help from many Polish users who were happy to share their sponsorship and fanclub members. What it showed is whilst every team starts at exactly the same point, within one season (16 week season), a Polish team is able to get to the stage that takes approx 2.5 seasons in a small nation (40 weeks). That's an instant leg up off the bat.
So whilst the particular user may not be doing a perfect job of managing their team, what incentive do they have to spend the very little money they have received since the new changes, just to auto demote anyway. There is no hope for them to jump up to the top league and stay there when they go a whole season on 70k euro, winning all matches, getting minimal gate receipts and still losing fanclub members. Better players aren't needed to re-promote to A-League so therefore better to save on wages.
Noone blames Polish managers for the way the game has been developed, but they do blame them if they cannot see how much easier they have the game due to poor underlying coding. Idea which require very little added coding have been given to make it a more level playing field, whilst maintaining managers and keeping a healthy NT scene have been given, and even if implemented today, would probably still take a few years to really show the more level playing field.
And believe it or not, the NT scene needs small nations to survive, because you need countries to beat, otherwise teams outside the top 8, or top 12, become those that lose all the time, thus reducing interest, making them weaker, leave etc etc snowball.

Xineon plays in small country and his team plays for 80+ mark team
a team from Luksembourg actually won the Champions Cup
Compostela (Suomi) plays for 80+
Zelenilo (Bosnia) plays for 81+

you don't make money from sponsors, you make money from training
Your transfer balance is negative, if you look at strong teams they are always very much in the positive, in hundreds of millions
that's imo the biggest difference, you don't spend the time and resources on transfers and training enough, while it's the main way big teams improve and get ready for playing at high level, not by getting money from sponsors :))

Borkos007 gave you examples that it is possible.

You think teams in Poland make money by being in top leagues? No, being there drains their money every season, the money they usually made by being in 4th or 5th division league, where the average level is similar to your top league, and the money they make there from sponsorship and tickets is also similar. So how do they make money? By training. That's how you make money in sokker. Of course after the league reform it is much easier to be in plus every week with the current ticket money, but it's the same in every country. But it's only a "plus" in weekly balance, main cost of being in top league is players losing a lot of their value simply by getting older.
You absolutely can afford great young players by playing in small countries, the same way you can start building a great team by playing in lower divisions in Poland. You don't even need the best of the best to make a great team being able to compete on international level. Look at Terrion's defenders (and one defmid) from last season's Champion's Cup final and look how much they costed him (match, players: 1 2 3 4 5 6).

Can you give me a link to that? It looks interesting, I'd like to compare it to mine experience :)

Why would he "auto demote"? At the beginning of the season in top division he could build a team with 50+ ratings for ticket money he gets in ONE match. Yes, it would be a team of very old players, but it shouldn't matter to him as he doesn't even train his players properly, he plays the same squad in all three matches in a week. He could put 8-9 good, old players on pitch and still have a place for 2-3 of his young defenders in each league match, which would be enough to train them.
He doesn't understand how sokker works, country he plays in doesn't matter - if he was in Poland he would stay in 6th division all the time, getting maybe 80k euro from sponsors. His complains don't make sense if you look how he manages his team. He is the problem of his team, not the league, not the sponsorship money, not the tickets money, not the number of fans he has. He could do great if he learns :)

Stop using the Luxembourg example it was a one and done thing that wasn’t sustained.
Sure but notice all those you mentioned were from European time zones. Those few of us in the Southern Hemisphere suffer from 2 things, low users and inability to access the transfer market. That’s why we end up with negative transfer balances, we get nothing from our own transfers and we have to overpay to even remotely stand a chance of buying a player off the transfer list due to time zones. So obviously that is why we keep harping on about sponsorship and gate receipts. The transfer market option is not possible for us period.

Let's check if it's true or is it just an excuse (money in PLN, 4m PLN = 1m euro)
Bolivia 17 users
Deportivo Motoyoé = +428m
Destroyer = +544m
small country, bad timezone etc.
compare that to the top 3 in Australia:
Achmids Soul -46m
Chelsea -254m
Ukmerges -386m
Look at what people are training in Australia. Mostly worthless players bought for 1-50 thousand. You can't make money like that and can't expect the game to "give more money from sponsors" because they don't want to train properly and make the money themselves.
Players go down in a window from 8AM sokker time to 12PM at least, that's a 14h window of transfer for selling and buying
