Subject: »[change] New Structure and promotions and mixing every 4

It's harder for the first of the lower division, if he isn't promoted.

But actually he isn't promoted by loosing a qualification match against the 5th ...
What you propose is just unfair. What i propose too, but less.

A less unfair system where half of leader (best points winner) have a direct promtion and half (other) have a qualification match against 7th. But we had to divise by two the number of groups in each league (but the first of course)

If you have an exponentional growth in your divisions, you're obligated to use a play-off system.I won't disable the play-offs, though... It's also a good way to "check" if your team's up for the challenge for promotion or strong enough to sat against relegation...
But indeed, give the other teams a "friendly" so they can enjoy full training possibilities. The only extra benefit for a play-off match should be the attendance fee and a winners "bonus" in case of promotion!

If you remove the qualication week, you lose one week of train too. I prefer qualification match and friendly matches for the other teams

The team in the upper division are richer than the team in the lower division. I am for a redistribution of goods and of emotions. I see play-offs as an unfair privilege for 5th to 8th teams of the upper divisions.

If you remove the qualication week, you lose one week of train too.

And if the season lasted 20 weeks, we gained 4 weeks of training... what does it mean?
:D
For me losing one week of training isn't a problem, because it should be the same for all of us.

What about this system? Is it fairer?

1st Div: 1 league = 8 teams -- 2 teams down directly (7th and 8th)
2nd div: 2 leagues = 16 teams -- 2 teams up directly (1st in each league) and 4 teams down directly (7 and 8th teams)
3rd div: 4 leagues = 32 teams -- 4 teams up directly (1st) and 8 teams down directly (7th and 8th)
4th div: 8 leagues = 64 teams -- 8 teams up directly (1st) and 16 teams down directly (7th and 8th) + 16 teams play qualification for relegation (5th+6th teams)
5th div: 32 leagues = 256 teams -- 16 teams up directly (best 1st teams according to points and score) and 16 teams play qualification for promotion (another half of 1st teams) + 64 teams down directly (7th and 8th) + 64 teams play qualification for relegation (5th+6th teams)
6th div: 128 leagues = 1024 teams -- 64 teams up directly (best 1st teams) and 64 teams play qualification for promotion (another half of 1st teams) + 256 teams down directly (7th and 8th) + 256 teams play qualification for relegation (5th+6th teams)
7th div: 512 leagues = 4096 teams -- 256 teams up directly (best 1st teams) and 256 teams play qualification for promotion (another half of 1st teams)

+ possibility of Sunday friendly match at week 15 for teams who don´t play a qualification match
it also always avoids all possible drawbacks of shortening the season

mmm...
@slavista, @all
what is the meaning of your proposal?
what is the target you want to reach?
what is the upgrade of the system you want to introduce?
don't you want rules change just to see something new or aesthetic?

I repeat my opinions
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with actual league system with x4 moltiplying factor for lower leagues: 1 - 4 - 16 - 64 - ...
It allows new users to reach faster the top league, much more than x2 multiplying factor
To be revised: delete low leagues depending by the number of active players, set rewards for positions, different promotion/relegation system.

Introduce money premium for teams from 1st to 4th position obtained in the league.
Maybe $ 200k-150k-100k-50k for lower league, increasing for higher leagues
Example for Italian league:
Eccellenza. 200k-150k-100k-50k
Serie D. 400k-300k-200k-100k
Serie C. 600k-450k-300k-150k
Serie B. 800k-600k-400k-200k
Serie A. 1000k-750k-500k-250k

Promotion/Relegation.
Set 7th-8th classified always relegated in lower league. It will increase in-league competition, and it will allow best 50% of 1st classified in lower leagues to be automatically promoted (vertical mobility).

Other play-off matches will be played as actually, with the following difference.
If the higher league team wins the play-off, fanclubs mood must modify: half increase for higher league team, half decrease for lower league team.

Maybe matches schedule can be revised.
Actually we play matches 1-7 and 7-1 (specular system), we can change it setting matches 1-7 and 1-7 (regular system)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my targets to reach by changes are 3: more in-league competition to reach best position, higher vertical mobility by leagues, more fair and fun for user.

*in-league competition: rewards for 1st-4th classified make managers interested to gain better position
*higher vertical mobility: actually only 25% teams in lower leagues is directly promoted, with my proposal that teams are 50%
*more FAIR for users.
fanclub's mood changes differently, after the playoff (5th-6th classified vs remaining 50%of 1st classified), if the winner is the higher league team. actually for a lower team is much mooore better to be 2nd classified than to be a playoff loser.
for lower team is unfair to lose all fanclub's mood after a super season, only losing playoff
for higher team is unfair to have fanclub's top mood just saving the season, only winning playoff
*more FUN for users. Users "maybe" want to reach top leagues. Is it reasonably simple with a x2 league moltiplying or a x4 league moltiplying?

- No play-off (15 weeks a season)
- 1st place: direct promotion; from 5th to 8th place: direct relegation.

I have never seen in my life competition where half of the league got relegated automatically. Play-off is always better option for me because better team will prove it on the pitch. Point is to have best teams in top tiers.

Promotion should be the right prize for a championship winner.

Very interesting consideration and I very much welcome it!

Instead of a number sequence of 1,4,16,32 for the league pyramid structure, it would be more sensible to choose the new number sequence: 1,2,4,8,16...

The reasons have already been discussed here. So the differences between the leagues are smaller. The question is. How should this be implemented at all. Who stays in the 2nd league level? Who goes to the 3rd league level?

But yes, I welcome it if the league level structures are adapted.

Copied from the old topic on Bugs & ideas:

This is what I posted (but changed division 4 as number of managers dropped a lot since 2015):

Division 1 (1)
Division 2 (2)
Division 3 (4)
Division 4 (8) or Division 4 (16)
Division 5 (16) or Division 5 (32) or Division 5 (64) >> Division 5 is more than enough for almost all countries, with max 64 leagues as most countries won't even need more than 64 leagues.
Division 6 (64) or Division 6 (128) or Division 6 (256) >> Division 6 is needed for maybe a few countries
Division 7 (256) or Division 7 (512) or Division 7 (1024) >> Division 7 isn't needed right now.
Bottom Division /League (1) >> 7 botteams + all new managers of that season (7 bots because if there is only 1 junior team from an active manager there are at least 8 teams to make a full competition. If there is an even number of new managers, managers will always play, bots loose matches)

If countries grow it can become Division 4 (16)
If countries grow larger it can become Division 5 (16). If countries grow even more it can become Division 5 (32) and Division 5 (64)
When countries grow even larger as Division 5 it can become Division 6 (64) and next Division 6 (128) and Division 6 (256)
and even larger with Division 7 is for now not necessary anymore.
