Subject: [idea] International Cup or International League?
There is this idea of one new official competition alongside the National League and National Cup. I would like to ask you if you prefer the 3rd competition to be the International Cup or International league or something else.
International Cup
Devs proposed 3 options, each with the International Cup. In all the options the International Cup has 6 matches in the group stage (week 1-6) and the knockout phase has either 4 more rounds (options 1 and 2) or 5 more rounds (option 3). This leaves us with the situation when in the middle of the season, most of the users would be out of the both National Cup and International Cup. This problem is dealt in option 1 by adding some matches on Friday in option 2 adding some league matches on Tuesday and in option 3 by playing 2 league matches per week.
It is possible that the International Cup would have a similar hierarchy to the current National league. Users would be assigned to their International Cup division by their level of National league/average marking in League/rating (this is not decided yet). This would be the key to draw the teams to the International cup every season. So you would compete in the International cup every time against random different users.
International League
My Idea is the International League instead of the International Cup.
- The system of leagues and divisions in the International League is the same as the system of National leagues. But it would be completely independent competition on National league, much like Junior league nowadays. Results of one competition would not affect results in the other. So you would play 3rd National league division and 5th International League division for example.
- It solves the problem with early dropouts. You will play International League entire season not just 6-11 weeks as in the International Cup.
- Results in the actual season in International League will affect what division you will play next season. I think this would motivate users more than the International Cup, which even if you won, it would not mean that you would player higher division Cup next season.
- You will more likely play against the same teams for more than one season and you will play with them for the entire season instead of few matches in the International Cup. This way the International League participants are more likely to create some bond with each other.
Or maybe you will come up with something better :)

I'm concerned about whether the international league relegate the national league.
International league is great.
It means even weaker teams get guaranteed matches.
It means both strong and weak teams face a lot of competition at their level
It means you develop bonds with people over a number of seasons as you work your way to promote to the next league.
It means countries with only a few active users, actually get to talk to someone and play other humans for the whole season.
The national league will never be beaten, as everyone has too much national pride. The international league is just a great way to put yourself to the test against a lot of similar skilled people, have guaranteed 2nd match all season, and make new rivalries in game

Wow we are seeing an overwhelming majority wanting an international league rather than cup. I hope devs are watching.
+1
Maybe National League + National Cup + International League + International Cup = to have all these competition would be the best.
In the beginning of the season there we would have 4 matches a week, until our team will fall ot of the cups, but after out of cups we will have 2 official matches till end of season. If we want, we also could have friendlies on the cup days (after the falling out of cups), but it would be not a have to thing.
In this way everybody could have what wanted.
If we have to choose between international cup and international league, it's no question me that the int. league shuld be the choice, it is better because of every week matches through the whole season.

One more idea to this: I think the cups should give only in money earning and in fan number climbing and in ranking points an advantage, in trainings only a very few. So we could avoid to make the big teams even bigger meanwhile they were interested in cups, too.

It means no place for stupid friendlies!
Although, I still prefer cup, but league is also acceptable.

Friendlies r not stupid, we should test compositions and tactics, that's a good Ux addition... theoretically ! :-)
But friendlies are dedicated to training so ... in practice, friendlies are useless for testing.
Also we get arcades, for testing (well in practice iv doubt ... see the "arcade bugs") but for "plus" only ...

That's what I said, they theoretically might be wise addition, the greatest thing in sokker. But You see how it works, it turns out that they are useless and meant as the way to not skip training advantage. They does not serve the purpose they should and they are realizing something totally different instead. And that's why they are stupid.
Also, it would be hard in this kind of game to figure out something which makes sense and causes friendlies to be used for testing tactics, formations or whatever.

maybe i am wrong, but i read somewhere that devs plan to change training system excluding the friendlies "bonus"... Let's wait the next devs diary about training...
Yeah, I know, maybe not exclude but greatly decrease. But, anyway, I don't think it will help them to be useful. Take away the training bonus and more or less no one will play them.
you said quite the opposite, it could be great addition for testing. If managers dont use optional friendlies for testing that's ok, i dont care.
The first sentence was purely theoretical as You might come up with an idea which seems great but ultimately in practice it turns out to work quite the opposite. I am not saying friendly matches are such great idea, at least I didnt meant to.
