Subject: youth school

And the players I still train? ;)
2016-09-29 15:42:54
You're clearly an outlier. I am not convinced a youth squad is profitable on average in the long-term..
2016-09-29 16:10:26
its lottery, 1 player can change whole game
2016-09-29 19:17:36
Imho it is, but by long-term I'd say at least 10-15 seasons. And you shouldn't spend more than 1 million € per season for places and coach. I think many managers keep too many youths. Basically I never have more than 15-18 players on Thursdays. I would cut down even more radically if it wasn't for the youth matches. Because let's be honest, usually you have 3 really decent players maximum and perhaps 10 more that can be sold (even if only for a few k) with adequate skill distribution.

Also people tend to forget provisions for juniors that are traded again until 23y.

The youth club is financial ruin for me. I have magical coach that costs 50k a week, plus 25k a week for the player spots. And an incredible player is sold for 13k xD, that's the highlight of an entire year... 75k x 52 weeks equals 3.9 million LOL... how can there be a majority of people with youth club when it's such a drain...
2018-02-17 00:54:18
It´s not only about the level. It´s also about the age of the player (and the distribution of the skills).
You sold a player of level incredible (13) in age of 20 for 13k.
Age 20 is too old to be trained, except he has reached level 15 (magical).

You should keep your focus on players who leave the ys till the age of 18.
Over age of 18, only if they seem to be talented (talent estimation between 3 and 3,5)

And magical coach 50K+ is also way to expensive :/ Mine is €37325

see transferlist:

yep 50k wages is too much.

Usually, no more than 3-4 young players have a "good potential" in young school, so you should keep max 11 slots and sack weaker youngs every weeks. (who care about playing the boring Young leagues? youngs don't need to play this for training)

You can login to sktable (also NT french database), check your team and this evaluate your young players, and for years that's very a efficient tool.

Finally don't expect miracle; only 1 to 3 young players can save your cost every 2-3 seasons the others need to be sack as quick as possible (talent or not ! ); and then... training your young "stars" to maximize your profit, or sell as soon as possible (Young "star" players are now very expensive with just zero training)

What focus lol... the players are garbage, under 18 even worse xD i haven't limited my focus or anything, if anything I've kept too many players, but that would still only shave off 10k or 15k a week and it would still be a ruin
2018-02-17 22:23:06
I saw that auction in the last few minutes and it was at 1.2million, I dunno at what price he went for in the end but it could've been anything from that to 2 million or more. I bought my coach for anything from 50k to 200k can't remember, a lot cheaper. And besides, that guy is 85 years old, do coaches retire at a certain age or no? Or do they continue training till they're 300 years old? xd... mine is 59 yrs old I assume his wages will go down, they're already at 46k
2018-02-17 22:26:20
Btw, I knew your name rung a bell, you advised me years ago by mail on tactics as I was clueless and just with your change I had a bull run and ended up in first division for a few years xD
2018-02-17 22:31:17
Well mine might be magical, but his pace is only outstanding. It's magical because stamina is magical, but stamina is useless I assume. Other than that everything is unearthly except for pm and goalie which are magical.

sktable looks nice thanks, but even that tool recommends to keep players I know will be ruinous, like they'll sell for 1k if anything at all. Even your best case scenario with all the savings and only 11 slots wouldn't have made sense for the season or two that I've been in business of youths
2018-02-17 22:55:13
Why u talk about specific skills, only the overall coach level who count and only his wage^^ yours is too high.

If you know that young players will be ruinous why you keep them? you have 16 youngs. I never seen a FR young school with more than 4 "top" valuable player (potentially) if you talk about that.. That's the reality, ok, so : Keep the top, reduce coach wage and only one "top" young can save you from years of young school deficit.
My two pences.

I see you still use the basis of that tactic :)

About youth school,

mine is 59 yrs old I assume his wages will go down, they're already at 46k

Coaches never retire, is never implemented in the game, so yes, they can become 300 years old :/ And wages and skills of coaches never go up or down.

If you want to make money with youth school, you could start 'gambling'. Fire the expensive coach and hire a new one, formidable coach with max salary of €11000 or outstanding coach with max salary of €17500 (don't mind the individual skills for head coach!). Next only keep all 16y old juniors and hopefully get high skilled 16y old players who can be promoted to first team when still 16y old. When they become 17 in youth school only keep the ones that have showed talented progress (talent 4 or better) and can be sold as 17y or max 18y old players.

And ofcourse keep prove of progress with help program like Apollo (link: users.telenet.be/BZRK/sokker/Apollo.zip)

This is one way how you can keep cost low.

Not 100% sure anymore if this will work all the time and as good as it did in the past, because the number of active managers has dropped. Don't know the price of 16y old players anymore.

Today, for example, after six months of having a young school , the following junior came out:

Tomisław Lutka, age:16
club: Jelcz-Laskowice, country: Polska
value: 33 500 $, wage: 675 $
very good [9] form, tragic [0] tactical discipline
height: 177 cm, weight: 83.9 kg, BMI: 26.78

hopeless [1] stamina, tragic [0] keeper
average [5] pace, hopeless [1] defender
good [7] technique, poor [3] playmaker
hopeless [1] passing, average [5] striker

he came out as good :D
