Subject: [Idea] Less leagues per division

2010-06-19 14:37:25
In Belgium, a lot of newbies quit because the difference between 4th and 5th division is too big. So they start well, promote, and then they relegate immediately back to 5th. This isn't very motivational. That's why we have an idea. Now, there are 4 leagues of 2nd division, 16 of 3th, etc. Why not making only 2 second divisions, 4 third, ... So double the number of leagues and not x4 as it is today. The relegation/promotion system can be that the half of the champions promote immediately, and the other half ( based on points, goals, etc. ) plays against the 7th of the higher division. When you become 8th, you relegate immediately.

For instance, this would be the solution for Belgium. We have just under 1300 users. You could implement this after a certain season. Of course, the developers should make that the supporters aren't that furious as some teams will go from 4th to 7the division.

If you think it's a good idea, please say what you would change, and if you don't like it at all, please give the reason for that.

reason no1: poland ;)

12 divisions for Poland, what's the problem with that?
true poland is similar.. and at the moment we have a major problem too in ireland

two divisions in first division are a lot stronger than the others.. but if one team is good in the weaker leagues, they get the auto promotion as they win all games, and get relegated the following season
when in tougher leagues like i am, maybe 3 teams could compete in the premier league from us

Highest average marks
1. 62.83 Bad Tactics Premier Division
2. 60.69 Super Athletico Premier Division
3. 58.07 GB Rovers Premier Division
4. 57.05 evilbunny united Premier Division
5. 55.08 Sultans of Ping F.C. Premier Division
6. 51.84 The Angry Beavers Premier Division
7. 50.84 ajrisze First Division.03
8. 50.43 Xtremely Xplicit First Division.03
9. 49.98 Ulster Emmigrants First Division.03
10. 48.39 best of the west Premier Division
11. 47.60 Lusk Towers First Division.01
12. 47.59 Killygarry FC First Division.04
13. 47.48 Claregalway First Division.01
14. 46.63 Baile Ard Aon Premier Division
15. 45.96 Lucan United First Division.03

those are some simple stats.. and because we have 3 strong teams the auto promotion usually goes to another league where there is one outstanding team.
if one of us promotes its usually 5th place in prem vs 1st in our league who is usually a strong team who goes down anyway.
also just FYI, personally my average mark is based on second team also half the time, as i play a weakened side vs the weaker teams so i can dominate friendlies also.
another guy has played his friendly team 2-3 times this season also minimum, so those marks should even be higher...

im agreed some intermediate system may be ideal to implement.. especially as leagues get higher and higher amounts.. it may be a plan to subdivide those leagues :)

also it should be noted, i will not maintain my run of form and win last 3 games of season vs stronger teams i reckon.. so autopromotion will go to a team who is not even on that list of highest average marks there now :)
20th best team overall in ireland atm apparently, but have a 4 mark average advantage over nearest best team

It's totally a good idea!

So if I get this right, I would be in Division 5/6? And in Poland, a newbie would be worried about having to promote through 20 leagues?
12 leagues, but in the first seasons, they could promote quite easily, which will stimulate them to keep playing Sokker.
oh no...
for some weird reason, I misunderstood.

You want to solve the problem of the gap between leagues by moving the leagues. In a few seasons, you'll end up with the same situation.

No you don't. Less teams on each level means more levels, and a greater spread of 'levels'. Now, in Belgium the best and worst teams are only 4 leagues apart from each other. What's more, the average between 4th and 5th class could be more than 10% apart from each other (35 against 45% average). If you have more levels, those average numbers will be far closer to each other. For example:

1st division 65% average
2e division 60% average
3th division 55% average
4th division 50% average
5th division 45 % average
6th division 40% average
7th division 35% average

Which is, of course, a much better spread of quality...

Yes, I think It would be better less leagues per division.
Further:
1 league in first division
1 league in second,
2 in third,
4 in fourth,...
2010-06-23 15:30:24
I don't think it's necessary to only have one second division.

I think its not a good ideea.
The newest teams even at seeing the 8 divisions(not only 5-6)can refuse to play this game immediatly. Is an other ideea for the good of the riches clubs and against the new teams.
I think, one team from IV-th league actually could not be very enthusiast to be relegated in VI-th or VII-th league. The losed sponsorship-money is one other reason.

But on the other hand it is better for new users to win some games at the beginning and get some useful experience. It is very discouraging when you start to lose matches when you are unprepared for some league level...

I would see there one problem: When you want to reduce number of leagues per division it would be necessary to "relegate" some teams from higher divisions to lower ones. What clue would you use for it?

reason no1: poland ;)

Solution could be that the moment a country has more as X number of managers the current system is used 1,4,16,64 etc, but if there are less then X number of managers another system is used (idea of Rubinho) 1,2,4,8 etc.
