Subject: [idea] Helping small countries to grow

2020-04-20 21:31:39
but if exotic junior would come to Karsten`s YS, it would "steal" Finnish junior spot

Yes, but what if it were that potential superstar you had been waiting for

You will never know that with send away players. The chance it was another rubbish player is a lot greater ;)

And also, maybe that international youth player is the best someone ever got, and get the money for selling him. Or is send away while it was a superstar.

EDIT: When earned millions by selling an international superstar and being able to buy back a national player (as more of these will walk around in other countries (as all small(er) countries will get many more youth players around the world) I think it is good deal.

Small(er) countries will get a lot more national players on the TL list as nowadays.

I thought you were against people selling players on the transfer market ;-)

No absolutely not :)

And certainly not when spend a lot of time and money on training players. To spend months training youth is the complete opposite of daytrading ;)

I would love to buy a Finnish youngster from a Dutch youth academy for instance. I’m totally pro this idea but I want the freedom to choose whether I send a scout to Africa for instance or not. If it’d be base on hiring scouts.

Making it optional would ruin the whole idea. The % would be low anyway, and if you make it optional, it is actually worse for the smaller nation you are so worried about not having the superstar for (which is why I put up my example).

If you want the smaller countries to grow, then it can't be optional

No one should be forced for this

I’m not worried about Australia having superstar youths. I’m just worried that if for once in 15+ years I’d get a jackpot pull he'd for sure with my luck be a foreigner. My motivation in this game has been to play with 100% Finnish squad which is why it’s been impossible to reach the full potential of my team. But I enjoy it, it’s been my decision since day one and I’m not going to change it now.

Should this feature be implemented, which I give thumbs up as I’ve stated, most of the users would get more exitement with the possibility to get a youth from for instance Australia. If it’s optional, many would take that option for sure! But to make any sense in this idea it should be based on hiring scouts, how on earth would you otherwise get an Aussie or a Nigerian player in your youth squad occationally? By a miracle? And if it’s based on scouting, obviously it should be optional to hire the scouts.

I’m gonna say it once more: +1 but not my cup of tea.

+1 ideas A+B combined will definitively help small countries to get a better attractive NT and country competition.

It's better for the community, gaming experience, even users in big countries... Plus, second team can resolve many more other things (like users who want to play 2 strategies, player we need more game competition during a week ...)

About details :
- i think randomize YS countries up to 25% of players is a simple solution and a good compromise.
- 2 teams can bring problems (you evoke) but the benefit of new possibilities is better positive in the end.

I send a scout

A scout would be nice. Not sure how this could be implemented. But more realistic staff is a good idea I think. 5 trainers isn't really that much.

(not the idea of choosing which countries and regions as this will also ruin the concept, just as making it optional, as the whole idea is to help smaller countries grow).

The scouting for money idea still has unsolved issues:
- if it costs why anyone would pay for it if he or she would get the same junior but with different flag
- if that foreign junior would be better in some way then why anyone would pay for their normal juniors if with a little more money he or she can get better junior overall

Good questions.

But I do know that players from some countries make more money because they are rare. Or at least in the past that was the case. Not that often online anymore, and not on the transferlist either, so not sure if this is still the case.

So getting rare nationalities could be a reason to buy a scout.

But as I wrote, I also have no idea how to implement this. Maybe a scout is needed to have a youth school to start with, as many youth players come from local clubs in the area and also need to be scouted (just posting brainwaves, nothing well thought over yet)

I've noticed that footballers with exotic nationalities are quite more expensive than the ones from the countries that contain the most users. Apparently a lot of managers are flag collectors.

to keep fair play i see all nations should be treated equal. if we want to favor any nation we will loose what was promised from developers fair play . All this options second team youth nation etc should be optional i was thinking with plus but then pay2win rule will be broken so not sure at all is good idea.

As you say, all nations need to be kept equal. This would also make it easier for developers to code as well.

The easier coding would be x% chance of nation id 1-104.
The next easiest would probably be, Week 1 and week 9 are youth pulls not from home nation.

Then it would probably be adding another button that is an opt out "IF box A checked, ignore %rule"

And so on (because set rules are much easier to code than optional ones).

The more complex it gets, looking at player numbers in the game, or user numbers, to determine likelihood of pulls, or financial incentives for other country pulls, or anything else, it just gets hard to code and implement.

Being able to select the nation the pull is from, can be good and bad, but I think overall bad, as certain nations will constantly be favoured due to whatever reason. It has certainly been an issue in my other online management game, where big nations of IRL sports, get more people choosing them, than small nations in IRL sport, certain countries are more likely to pull from another country (only an issue in sokker because half the users are Polish, so maybe they would have a preferred country to pull from).

Indeed. The % this new youth player could be German is the same % he could be Vietnamese. So every country will get more new youth players, if managers keep foreign players in youth school.
